GREAT win tonight!

--Snaps the winless streak
--Beat the top in the West
--Heading into the break on an up note

I have to admit, though.....

A teeny, tiny part of my brain was saying: "If they go into the break with a 7-game winless streak, Darcy HAS TO do something. HAS TO.

While this win is just what the team and fans needed short term, I suspect that Darcy has every intention of staying the course and making no real improvements by the trade deadline. THAT is not good, as the last 15 game pattern illustrates.

Short term, absolutely.

But not necessarily if the win diminishes the likliehood of management making needed improvements.

This team needs a couple players to put it over the top.

We need Biron.

No, he doesn't. It would probably literally take a 15-20 game losing streak to force Darcy to make a big move.

So let's see...

We have one member who advocates losing games to improve draft position.

Now, we have someone who advocates a team competing for a division lead to CONTINUE A LOSING STREAK just so the GM will trade someone.

I can't wait to see what you hockey scholars come up with next.

I'll take the solid victory (although the Sharks didn't bring their A game, it was still a good win).
I still want a trade for a stud RWer for Vanek and Roy and I wouldn't mind a back up goalie worth a shit.
Defense? I don't know, but it would be nice to make a move if for no other reason than to get something for Lydman. I doubt he gets resigned in the off season.

If Darcy makes a move I am thinking Florida or Edmonton would be the dance partners, and since both organizations have stated no one is off limits in either organization I would think Horton and Penner have to be prime targets for the Sabres.

So when the Sabres win the other team didn't bring their A game either?

We can't beat any team when they bring their A Game then.

Not bashing on you slesh, but a win is a win right now, they still played Nabby and they put in 3 goals on him in one period. He is the Russian starter and this Sabres team beat him.

the Sharks aren't used to playing teams that match them in speed like that. And we shut down their top line completely. They were a combined -7 or something that game.

I'm not opposed to a move being made.

I am opposed to these jackass ideas of intentionally losing to reach some outcome.

?

Remind me again where it says in my post the Sabres couldn't beat them if they brought their A game.
No, I think I stated that in this particular game, the Sharks didn't bring their A game, which interpreted means, they didn't play the best hockey we have seen from them. I mean, really Sky, you don't get to a points leader position without some real good hockey.

Are you implying the Sharks have not played better through out the season than what we saw this evening?
If so, I would think you may want to go look at some video of Shark's games from this season.

I think what he was going for was simply that every time the Sabres beat a good team, someone comes along and downplays it by saying 'Well, their opponent didn't bring their best game, so it doesn't mean much'.

I don't think that was your intention, but it could be interpreted that way.

That is what I was going after, half the time it's that way whenever we beat a great team, some people make excuses why the other team lost.

I don't think the Sharks played that bad, of course they didn't play to their best abilities, but we still beat the number one in the West, no matter how you slice it, we beat a very good team tonight, whether or not they brought their A game or not.

We still beat them.

I'd rather have discussions about the Shark's effort than listen to people suggest we should throw the game to get Darcy to trade Stafford. :)

:D

They didn't look to Sharky tonight. But I give Buf alot of credit. Keeping the odd man rushes down and playin them to the outside alot really helps Miller and it shows. And oh, I almost forgot, No one slipping with the puck in the defensive zone (Thank you Monty for putting an edge on your blades) :D

I realize you are starved for a win, but think it through:

What is MORE important long-term...
--A single win going into the break,
--OR a single loss that extends the winless streak to 7.....giving the front office a good 2 1/2 weeks to chew on what they NEED to do? A bad tatse left in everybody's mouth for 2 straight weeks while the league is idle may be all the front office needs.

I would take ONE MORE LOSS tonight if it caused a NEEDED IMPROVEMENT.

You have to think beyond tonight to understand how this needs to play out for the remainder of the season.

As much as you people hate Darcy, I'm pretty sure he doesn't ignore the previous 6 games after tonight's outcome.

Any suggestion that the Sabres should INTENTIONALLY lose a game for ANY reason is pure nonsense. The objective is to WIN. Period.

Who said INTENTIONALLY lose a game?

I simply said it wouldn't have been the worst thing if they DID lose tonight...for the reasons stated previously.

They know they need to make trades, one win isn't going to affect that outcome.
