No thanks, our defense would be way worse without Rivet, and he is one of the only players we have on the team to stand up for his teammates. He's had a few rough games, but a lot of it is who he is paired with - if you paired Rivet with Myers, I guarantee it would be our strongest pairing. Lindy is doing a good job of pairing D-men to hide individual weaknesses - I also Guarantee that if you paired Hank with Butler, Hank would look worse than Rivet does now.

I can't imagine Buffalo would trade away Rivet without having another trade for a defenseman in the works.
That's why I say yes please.

I would like Frolov, but not for Rivet. How about Lydman?

I don't really seeing frolov fitting in here, i mean we don't have any russians on the team. as to the trade if they are willing to take rivet, why offer them lydman who has proven he can play with out help from a rookie like Tallinder. I'm just saying you rag on tallinder then don't include him in a trade. I mean rumor is for rivet who recently found his ass on the bench. If we could throw in tallinder and maybe land a little more. I mean myers can play with butler. I'd also be willing to throw in Montador.

I think Frolov for Rivet would be a steal for us.

How about Vanek for Frolov - save 2.4 million to spend elsewhere, and only lose 2 pts of production?
Don't know what LA's cap room is like though?

Don't know what LA's cap room is like though? If you believe NHL10, they have millions in free space.

Tell ya what, if Buffalo gets Hamhuis from Nashville, and then trades Rivet for Frolov I'd love it. Not to mention I've heard we were very, and I mean VERY close to landing Whitney on Friday, so we don't lose much veteran leadership. Making moves for future, and this season. I honestly think Frolov and Vanek would have good chemistry together, and potentially could add a unique offensive dynamic to our 1st line.

Rivet has lost a step this year and doesn't look like he did last year. And I agree Frolov and Vanek could be a deadly combo.

And also, who was involved? I'm not totally doubting you, but I'm really interested in that story.

Hamhuis struggles against larger offensive threats, per his bio, and has fewer penalty minutes, which means he doesn't stand up for his teammates as much, which means a soft Sabres team becomes softer - no thanks.

I'd rather we didn't. Frolov is just another underachiever

Been reported from several outlets, I believe hockey news, hockey buzz (I know I know), and maybe even was mentioned on Dregers twitter, not sure. I have a friend who works for NHL network in NYC, (Phil has seen me talk to this guy) and he reported that Buffalo is very interested in Whitney, but isn't up to giving up their 1st round pick for him. They also won't trade for him UNLESS they can sign him to a 1-2 year extension right after the trade is made. Take it for what it's worth. I'm not going to be that guy who defends all of his sources; quite frankly because I don't have any way to prove my sources. about 90% of trade rumors are all hear say from media outlets, and people that are close to the team (local journalists, assistants in front offices, etc etc etc), so it is what it is.

I'd shit my pants if we got Frolov for Rivet. I can't believe I'm the only one who feels this way.
