The racial composition of the US prison and jail population as of 2008 was 33.44% White (80% of the population), 40.21% Black (13% of the population), 20.29% Hispanic(15% of the population), and 6.06% Other. If things were equal, it SHOULD read "80% White, 15% Hispanic, and 13% black, that is, if there was not a serious problem with the black population of the US -----by the way, notice I'm not saying "African-American, and I will not say African-American until everyone begins referring to me as European-American. I'm just sayin.----- Anyways, also notice, almost 1 million white Americans were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by black Americans in 1992, compared with about 132,000 blacks who were murdered, robbed, assaulted or raped by whites, according to the same survey. Blacks thus committed 7.5 times more violent inter-racial crimes than whites even though the black population is only one-seventh the size of the white population. When these figures are adjusted on a per capita basis, they reveal an extraordinary disparity: blacks are committing more than 50 times the number of violent racial crimes of whites. I often point out the fact that a white man would be taking a great risk to walk through an all-black neighborhoods alone, while a black man would be in a significantly less amount of danger, statistically speaking, walking through a white neighborhood alone. I would do research to prove this, but while I may be able to find a black man with guts enough to walk through 9 or 10 white neighborhoods alone, I don't know if I will find a white man brave enough to walk through East St. Louis alone. Usually, the person I'm talking to will now say, "Come on Ken. I know some white people who would beat up a black man if they saw one in their neighborhood." To which I reply, "shut up. You are missing the whole point of a statistically lop-sided paradigm that is being displayed in our country; and to point it out is as if I were the innocent little bot who yelled out, "The emperor has no clothes." So in conclusion, I want to congratulate Dr. King for a job well done, and a dream come true
Somebody needs to do research on redlining and a loooot on sociology and holy crap I don't even know where to begin. In short, I cannot stand people who use those statistics as justification to be subtly racist. Way to not use thought at ALL. It's about culture and how blacks living in America were in large part screwed over several decades ago, relegated through no fault of their own to living in poverty in the inner cities. Nothing to do with black vs. white; everything to do with the culture of poverty. Moron.
