BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Yeah right, Rutherford is just trying to jack up the trade offers, but they aren't worth THAT much.

lol sadly enough there might be a desperate enough team out there willing to make this trade... haha, I want Whitney though... haha

It is definitely a sellers market heading towards the deadline as there are not a lot of elite UFAs-to-be on the block now that Kovy has been dealt to NJ.

I wouldn't be shocked if Whitney nabbed a 1st+ for the Canes, especially if he signs an extension.

Looks like the Sabres are out of the running for Whitney.

What about Edmonton, do they have anyone our team could use at a fair price?

Here are my guesses:

Columbus - Raffi Torres
Edmonton - Dustin Penner or Patrick O'Sullivan

A wild card could be the Dallas Stars looking to cut some payroll and possibly shopping a guy like Mike Ribiero

I heard that as well what he wants for Whitney and I think he's crazy. A 1st rounder and prospect for Whitney are you kidding. Now Cullen for a 2nd rounder isn't that bad. But I don't think Buffalo is going after either one. I'm not a big fan of trading a 1st rounder for an overage rental player. I just wish Darcy would move up in the draft and try to get in the top ten that's where most of your talent is. Since Darcy doesn't really acquire any great talent in trades in the last few years and the draft is all us fans hope that we get solid talent from.

Yep, look at our current roster. Almost everyone is home grown. Look at Myers and how he has stepped in, just a year after being drafted. Darcy isn't one for to pay huge for big namerentals, and if we were to get a roster player long term, we also have to make sure we keep the cap space open so we can sign people like Myers, Gerbe, Kennedy, Ennis, Weber when they come up. Draft is the way to go, but that doesn't fix this year. Hopefully a few tiny tweak trades and some call-ups will be the kick in the ass these guys need, because thats all they're getting (and i'm ok with that)

Myers is big time.

Kennedy is a decent role player, but nothing exceptional.

Ennis is looking like a better prospect than most thought.

Gerbe and Weber are far from sure bets right now.

Only Myers and Kennedy - to a much lesser extent, are helping us; and only Myers is a given on this list. If any of the remaing players can be parlayed into something to help us now, it should damn well be done.

Anaheim may fit that description....

I believe Anaheim thinks they are buyers. One more bona-fide forward, and they have 3 very complete lines. The 6th defensive spot is iffy, if you count Brookbank as solid(which I believe he is for a 5-6 guy). Currently 2 points out of 8th. If they can land a 5-6 defensemen, and a good, solid 3rd liner(very attainable goals), I'm sure there'd be NO team that would want to face them in the playoffs.

/can't tell they're my #2 can ya?

Again this comes from the desk of Eklund but he states : "*The Islanders and Sabres are battling over a "top 6 guy playing on a team out west that is in rebuilding mode." Yet to get anything else there."

If this is truly happening what team in the west do you think it is? Any ideas or even just people you'd like to see in a Buffalo uniform from the west.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/4 ... re/1/26198

Being that this rumor comes from Eklund and involves a "Top 6 Guy" that is "playing on a team out west in rebuilding mode"..... Im going to wager that we're looking at Dennis Hextall of the 1970-1971 California Golden Seals. Well wait you say? He's 66 years old!!! Yeah, I know, but it sounds slightly more plausible than any of that absolute bullshit Ek spews. Thatdouche is about as trustworthy as a Meth-head with lottery money. It's embarassing that people still post anything from his site, whether or not they give us the inevitable "I know its Eklund but....." He's a joke people. The guy has ZERO inside knowledge of anyone or anything involving this league period. His only useful commentary was during the lockout days of 5 years ago and much like William Hung, he's riding his 15 minutes of fame as long as some dickless loser is willing to pay to hear it.

Also, as an aside...... someone in Ek's camp told me Darcy is considering three seperate deals involving Newsy Lalonde, Toe Blake and King Clancy.....details to follow.

Yes, Eddie Shore also rumored to be involved along with Dit Clapper. Word is the Bruins are also considering throwing in Ted Williams to bolster the middle of the Bisons lineup. Just food for thought.....

I've also heard from Eklund that maybe, JUST MAYBE William Wallace and Edward the Longshanks might be available to add grit. BUT that depends on their contract status. We'll just have to wait and see.

I don't know that Dustin Penner is capable of living up to his contract.
