Wow, Slovakia won it in the 7th round of the shootout with Demitra winning it.

I fell asleep after the second so I was hoping someone posted the score.
This was one of the better games I've seen and I was surprised to see how stacked Slovak's roster was. The Russians came out with guns blazing and Slovak stood there own. It was nice to see Z and Palffy again. Good on the Slovak's.

Ovie had some crushing hits. When I saw him take Chara out, I was like  Number 8 is a literal machine. It's going to be hard to contain them.
Good to see Federov too ;)

Yea, Slovakia and Czech teams are really good, imagine if they were still one country?

Irony, I agree Crosby deserves his name on a cup, hell Malkin and Crosby basically won them their cup so they deserve all that credit.

I still am sick of hearing about him though, even in international competitions when his team isn't even playing we have to suffer it.

Exactly. He's not the best player in the world. He's not even the best player on his own team.

Jam the guy down my throat AFTER he's earned it, not before.

The only possible record of Gretzky that can be broken won't be by Crosby.

Gretzky's 860 some goals could possibly be broken by Ovechkin. But that's the only record that could ever be broken, and Crosby nor Ovechkin will not come close to sniffing 2800 points either.

Ovechkin could only break the goal total if he plays some 15 years averaging around 55 goals a year though, but it depends if he is going to be healthy enough to do so in another 10 years with his playing style.

Was chatting with a few while watching the hockey games about Crosby and Ovechkin and how Ovechkin plays give him at most a very impressive 10-13 year career, while how Crosby plays will give him 20+ years.

I disagree and think Ovechkin will play til he is 40, since he has only ever had one injury in his 5 year career with his play style so far.

Dammit! Why does the one game I want to watch today have to be the late game?!

I've watched all the midnight games. :D

I'll probably watch it also since I'm going skating at 7 so I'll miss Czech vs Latvia.

Czech already up on Latvia 3-0 with 8 minutes left in the first.

What's up with these screwy coverage times? It says 8 pm, but the game must have started at 7:30 and just switched from curling.

Very surprised with the Canada bashing in this thread (Not the Crosby bashing, that's warranted)

If the Usa does not win the gold, I would like more than anything for Canada to do so.

These are our brothers from the north (except Quebec regions) and I thought there would be a little bit more support there.

Vancouver is an AMAZING city, and I hope the locals there get the gold they deserve.

I am also surprised. I believe Canada will win this tournament; though I am rooting for The US of course. If not The US, then Canada is my second choice.

A lot of dissent on The Russian team; they could be in trouble here.

I wouldn't dislike Canada winning the gold, but I am already sick of Crosby being on camera every three seconds.

I would love to see Canada get the gold if the US can't pull it off. I just don't think they should be considered a failure if they only manage a silver.

If Canada gets silver on home soil it will be considered a failure forever.

I'm with you guys. I'm always cheering for USA second. But when we are head to head I want nothing more than to destroy you  as i'm sure you'd like to destroy us. I just wish you guys would cool off on the medal count.
As for the CAN - SUI game. The suisse played one hell of a game and Canada played a pretty bad game. Didn't move their feet and tried to make the fancy plays. It was the WJC all over again. Yet we still outshot them 47-23. This game shouldn't fool anyone nor should the Russia Slovakia game. I'm really excited for Canada USA. You guys have played a really tough game so far and think it should wake us up. If not than I don't like our chances.

It's going to be a very physical game, that's for sure. Two big, gnarly teams with hyped-up bloodlust...it's gonna be AWESOME!

Fuck yes Phil. And for one day I'm going to have to hate the majority of the people on these boards.(well not hate but strongly strongly dislike).
