Okay...I hope you all know me well enough to know that I am NOT a homophobe. But the get-ups on those men...pink ribbons? Come on...we get it...try and be a LITTLE masculine?

I miss Elvis Stoiko in the olympics. I loved him to pieces. Brian Boitano...he was feminine in his own way, but at least he wasn't wearing friggen FEATHERS!!!

Come on, guys...be men!

If you're looking for 'manly men' in figure skating, you're looking in the wrong place. :)

Kinda like wanting more "real men" in synchronized swimming. Not gonna happen! Of course, we can always look to blades of glory.

you know, I think the men's figure skaters thought Blades of Glory was a serious documentary. I, personally LOVE that movie and think the men can wear anything/color/plumage they want if they do an Iron Lotus. At this point, they are men regardless. ;)

And...Elvis Stoico brought masculinity to the ice. His whole theme was always judo based and he was a HUNKSICLE and not the least bit feminine. Like i said, i'm not a homophobe at all, but pink ribbons and feathers is just way over the top. It is possible to be a man, dress like a man and be a figure skater all at the same time.

Pretty soon, though, the ice dancing starts and that annoys me, too...they always look pre-orgasmic and I feel like they need their privacy.

BRING ON THE HOCKEY!!

I have new-found respect for uber-gay figure skater Johnnie Weir. He's really blasting the leftwingnuts in the animal rights movement who have threatened him with violence, bragging about how much he enjoys wearing dead animals. He's my new favorite skater.

Evan Lysacek of the U.S. edges Evgeni Plushenko of Russia for mens gold. Pretty cool, that Evgeni guy was kind of an arrogant shithead

I'm the last person to care about men's figure skating, but I have to confess that Evan was fucking awesome and I was stoked when he won. U-S-A!

Holy shit! A straight figure skater! Scandal indeed!

All I know is, I feel a hell of a lot less gay now for cheering him to win the gold.

AHAHAHA. I didn't read this thread till now because I thought you were advocating it. I, like you, am the farthest thing from a homophobe, but I can't stomach even watching the guys. I can't explain it

I might watch some of the couples ice dancing tonight because the girls are hot and the guys, well, they resemble guys ;)

the first thing that came to my mind when evan won the medal was, that is why you settle it on the ice and not in words. twisted from what phelps said when the french talked smack about about the race in Bejing or when that other guy offered phelps a suit in the fly event. Screw what it says on paper it shall be settled in the pool.

I did think weir did get screwed a bit on the scores. i thought he was better than a few of the guys in front of him, not a medalist but better than 6th. though they say his program was easy.

All I know about figure skating is that, when I was a kid, Philippe Candeloro was THE FUCKIN MAN
