Ok, I've officially claimed my top 3 teams to win the gold in these Olympics.

1. Canada
2. USA
3. Germany

Granted (and no offense to our brothers and sisters to the south) it is a tossup between the US and Germany as it stands for my #2. The Germans are trying their hardest out there, and quite honestly, if one of them can take out one of the Ruutu's on the ice, then I'm sold. Plus, they just seem to not be getting any kind of help from the refs as opposed to the opposition. So I hope the underdogs can do something here.

Just wanna say this to all the US Sabres fans out there. As much of the homers the Canadian media may be and a lot of people claiming, "Gold or nothing", that is NOT the same state of mind for the rest of us Maple consuming/Beer drinking/Garlic finger eating Canucks. The actual even keel Canuck will wish the best team win in these Olympics. My main concern continues to be what state our Sabres will be in after the Olympic break. That is what I'm worried of the most.

On that note (At least for tonight) LETS GO GERMANY!!!

Germany beat out by a 5-0 score against the Finns.

I'd say top three teams to win the Gold will be:
1. USA (Yes I'm a homer)
2. Canada
3. I really can't decide between Czech, Slovakia, Sweden, Russia, or even the Finnish.

It's gonna be a very tough tourny. I think all the medals will be a toss up.

I agree with Aud. I was oddly intrigued by how the Germans played.

If they didn't get screwed by a couple calls, I think we'd be talking about the Germans Medaling.

Yeah.... that's a pretty large jump.

They've been playing well, but they haven't even been able to score in two full games. Judging them to be a medal contender is a bit much

Slovakia up on Latvia 2-0 only minutes into the first.

I'm taking an odd liking to the Slovak team :)

15 minutes left in the second and 5 goals from 5 different players.

I didn't see Germany play last night, but judging by the posts, it seems people thought they were pretty good?

Until I see more games, I'll go with; Slovakia Gold!! Russia Silver, Canada Bronze.

The German team are playing really decent hockey. Unfortunately they either didn't pot the chances they had, didn't get the right bounces or they were being screwed by the refs. Sounds like a Sabres game, huh? But seriously, the poor bastards are out there trying their hardest. They do play really well, they've just fallen on the wrong side of the puck.

On that note, Poor Latvia :(

So now, I;d have to say my hopes for the top 3 are:

1. Canada
2. USA
3. ANYONE BUT RUSSIA & SWEDEN!!!!!!

Belarus up 2-1, but Germany just killed off a huge 5 on 3 in terrific fashion. Don't think Belarus managed a single good scoring chance.

3-1 Belarus now.

Well looks like Germany won't win tonight.

Tied up 3-3 now.

About thirty seconds after Belarus scored, Germany scored. About 20 seconds after their goal they tie it at 3-3, we still have a game.
