This is a personal question. If you had to choose between your country winning the Gold or the Sabres winning the Cup, which would you choose if you could only pick one?

You know, as a lifelong Buffalo Sports fan, I know how elusive those championship can be for us. Ryan Miller is our boy and he seems to be really in it with us for the long haul and for that, if I ever have the chance to meet him, I will hug him, kiss him and wash his feet with scented oils with my bare hands...he is truly the anointed one. The pessimistic Buffalo fan knows deep down in my heart that he'll probably never win a Stanley Cup with us...so for him, I truly hope he can get that Olympic Gold medal.

The optimist in me that is in constant conflict with my inner pessimist, still hopes for the Stanley Cup and knows that as long as Buffalo has an NHL team, its always a possibility and is, therefore, a priority.

How's that for a safe answer? I should get into politics!!

Wow. After reading that winding, meandering non-answer I think you should run for president!

THE CUP! . . . duh.

Already got my Olympic gold in 1980, so I'm good for awhile.

I would be fine with the USA team wearing skimpy outfits and being the Olympics ice girls for eternity if it helped us get The Cup.

Take a Stanley Cup any day.

I'm pro-America and all, but this is a no-brainer for me. In fact, I'd trade a Sabres win over Ottawa for last night's win over Canada. Those losses to the motherfucking Sens seriously kill me for days.

The game last night had a Super Bowl feel to it, and I was totally pumped through the whole game. That said, I would have the gold medal game recorded and cherish the moment forever, but if Buffalo won the Stanley Cup I might not make it back to the real world for weeks. I would probably have a missing person report out on me, lose my job and marriage, and come up out of a drunken stupor somewhere I've never been. As soon as I came to, I would start partying all over again.

winning the northeast division matters more to me then a gold medal.

that being said, its still probably high on up many of theirs lists. i know in europe, its better to win olympic gold, then the stanley cup. different cultures.

Been saying it all along. I want the cup over my country winning gold.

I know you are saying pick one but to argue semantics I'm going to say they are to separate entities. I mean with olympic gold, you are winning for yourself and your country. Most athletes are proud to represent their country and want to bring back the gold for the people. The Medal is proving you are the best hockey team in the world, world champions.

The Cup proves you are the best in the league, it is something all NHL players strive to win. It of course has meaning as well.

Both would do wonders for a poverty stricken buffalo. To have a sabre win gold against basically the all star teams of other nations. As well if the sabres could win the cup that would be a huge uplift to getting the league to recognize the fans and the team as a contender. would guarantee an extension for regier.

I am going to go with the medal because i don't think this team can win a cup, I want them to prove me wrong, but the current core is not strong enough to lead, and they are not maturing as regier keeps trying to force upon them.
