this seems to be more along with my thinking. no religion is wrong, per say. if you are a good human being, and you believe in a higher being, i think you are pretty solid.

for me it comes down to 1 "commandment" that falls along similar lines to you, "dont be a douche" and you'll generally be okay

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Ephesians 6:10-18

My daughter read this during confirmation classes. It was for her specifically when she was having anxiety problems waaaaay beyond the norm. I have to say, shortly thereafter, her problems were gone. She has a spiral notebook that says, "forever princess of the king of kings" and another that says "Blest by the best". I think she sees it as her armor to get her through her day surrounded by angst-filled teenagers. And the anxiety is truly gone, I hope, forever.

See it's things like this where I can see the benefits of religion. When it's used as a tool to give an individual strength, even if it's the intangible feeling that somewhere, someone is on your side.

Yup, I really like those verses, Very powerful if you ask me.

Verse of the Day:

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

So do Christians frown upon people whom wish not to marry?

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

I removed the suggestive nun images at Rutledge222's request.

As much as I personally appreciated them, I'd rather this thread not get back into the quagmire of shit that it was once already.

Matthew 13. 3-33

And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they
had no deepness of earth:
And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some
thirtyfold.
Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of
heaven, but to them it is not given.
For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not,
from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do
they understand.
And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not
understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed;
lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their
heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye
see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.
When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and
catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy
receiveth it;
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of
the word, by and by he is offended.
He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the
deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also
beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Gotta give you some credit for having the balls to post a thread like this when you know some people (wont name names) can't just let people that think differently from them discuss something that interests them without feeling the need to belittle and shat on people and make them feel ignorant or inferior because they believe in God. This thread seems to have a lot of condescending questions veiled as actual interest in having a theological discussion. Props to you man.

I could agree with this. But I could also agree with the three Avatar thing. Almost like a mixture of both?
