I think that all 3 of these guys having several strides to see their teammate(s), makes it hilarious. It's not like it was a close-quarters, scrum, bang-bang play.

It is funny, dammit! And, no, this doesn't happen all the time. (Can't believe we're discussing the funny-ness of this. :think: )

All i know is after the game before the start of the Sweden - Finland game they interviewed bettman on the topic of NHL players in the russian games, and Bettman looked like he was on the edge of tears. To which i enjoyed almost as much as the game.
