Germany will get punished for Canada's loss yesterday. Unless they find a way to play the Hecht line for 60 minutes, it's gonna be like 7-1 Canada.

Canada's lost point against Switzerland really hurts them, I would rather play Finland than Russia in the quarters.

Russia vs Canada in the QUARTERS. Whoda thunk it? That's looming as one beast of a match-up. Hard to imagine the loser gets shut out of a medal, and the winner still will have to get through Sweden.

I'm loving this.,..I'll be sad when olympic hockey is over.

I still kinda can't believe Austria doesn't have a hockey team.

Austria does have a hockey team. They're just not good enough that they qualify for the Olympics every year.

We have the same problem as Germany, just not enough good players. Vanek in the NHL, Grabner (he is NHL ready) and Noedl in the AHL, a few good ones playing in Switzerland, Sweden and Austria and then there's a drop.

We beat Germany in the last WC, unfortunatley we were relegated because Germany had to stay in the top division as the host of the next WC. We are always on the edge between top division and first division.

I was like, "Oh, well Vanek will probably be captain of the Austrian team..." and then I was like... ...... .......... "Where's the Austrian team?"

What do I know? They should start giving hockey scholarships for hockey players to play on college hockey teams and start the nursery process so they can have a good olympic hockey team. That's kind of what they're doing here for women's hockey. Thousands of moms and dads are getting their little girls in youth hockey in hopes they will be good enough for a free ride to Canton or Michigan and the colleges are into it because who doesn't want their college well represented in the olympics? Its a win/win. And how cool is it to say...'Yeah...my daughter plays HOCKEY!"

Just like sabretoothpick said before - we're lacking in depth to constantly play on the highest level. But as a national team I would rank as about as strong (or weak!?!) as Germany.

Here's the full bracket...

http://www.ctvolympics.ca/hockey/standi ... Round.html

Looks like the US has a very nice path - SUI or BLR, and then the winner of FIN and CZE to make the gold medal game.

The hardest team USA will have to play if they both make it is most likely Finland. I believe the Finns will take out the Czech team and you'll see a Semi of USA and Finland.

Well Team USA Plays the Swiss tomorrow.

Team Finland will most likely play the Czech team as they are winning currently.

Team Sweden will play whoever wins the midnight game, most likely Slovakia.

And Team Russia will play Canada.

Everyone's gold medal dream matchup has come true, two rounds before the gold medal.

So when do the States play on Friday? Also what about Canada? Nothing has been said on CTV and I thought for sure they would have said something regarding these games.

States play at 3PM EST, and Canada...well, I don't know when they play or even who yet - we're watching their two possible opponents right now.
