Hopefully they can take down Canada.

And if Canada wins gold...they'll all be IMPOSSIBLE to live next to. Seriously.

I don't know if a thread has been made about this or not....

http://olympics.fanhouse.com/2010/02/24 ... sh-game%2F

Crazy stuff.

I'm in the middle. The first time I saw it...I was thinking "oh that's just a regular old, hard hit" but then I thought "Semin doesn't actually hit...what gives?"

Boyle's reaction wasn't manly. Punch him in the face or something, don't slewfoot him.

But I think overall Canada played a "we won the game...that is that" game in the third. The Russians were not skating safe in the 3rd. Russian players were skating through the middle with their heads down towards the last 10 minutes. Had things got ugly, I don't think it would have worked out in Russia's favor.

Impartial. I have some bad feelings about some euro players, and will admit that I have used the term Eurotrash before...but would I say that on National TV? Probably not.

We're not that bad, nnyfan. Unless your talking about Leaf fans who will go way overboard and think it was their team who won gold for our country.

For the most part, I know of a lot of fellow Canucks who aren't really fans of this years team (myself included) that are just watching the games to see the best hockey. If our country wins gold, cool. If we don't, meh.

Boyle slew footed Semin. End of story. The Semin hit was a smidge late but otherwise clean. If Boyle comes up to Semin and roughs him up, takes a punch or two, it's a non story.

If he pulled that in an NHL game he might draw a suspension, depending on which way Campbell read the tea leaves that day. The fact that he slew footed Semin from behind is a bush league thug move.

Right. Not going to disagree.

In an NHL game, a different situation would have ensued. The whole fight = suspension rule changes the game a bit. In the Nhl, there would have been a pile that would take a minute or two for the refs to remove, and a possible suspension.

It is back to the argument that the more and more the NHL takes hitting and fighting out of the game, the more cheapshot looking bitch plays (like what Boyle just did) are going to happen.

Either way, overblown for sure. I was very surprised at what Milbury said, and had found a small discussion about it earlier in this thread.

ALL too fricking true man.

I've always wondered how the leagues’ front office made their decisions on disciplinary matters. This makes so much sense now! I wonder what Campbell will come up with next since his secret is out?

Boyle; bush league play from a bush league calibre player. He's a disgrace to the uniform.

Yeah, that 'eurotrash' comment was just so over the top and uncalled for. It's bad enough to say it during an NHL game with European players, but at the Olympics? Where at least HALF the athletes are from Europe?

Bonehead.

If I was Russia I would have thrown down with Boyle.

I mean at that point they had no chance of winning the game, and it would take Boyle out from the next game, but I don't know what would happen to the Russian player if they did that.

It'll be fun to see how much of this hostility will spill over into their day jobs. LOL

Well, with all due respect...If USA wins gold, they'll be IMPOSSIBLE for the Canadians to live next door to, as well. LOL But Leafs fans, in particular, would be insanely annoying at the next Sabres/Leafs game. If it boils down to a border showdown, Fort Henry might have to open up for battle again instead of tourism!!! LOL An epic battle for sure!!! We'll all be out on the frozen St. Lawrence wielding our hockey sticks!!! I jsut can't wait!! If I hear cannon fire from the north, I might have to move to Watertown for a week or tow.

Semins hit wasnt even late. It was a clean hit, absolutely nothing wrong with it. Boyle lost his cool and slew-footed him. He could have done a lot worse. As I said before if this incident happens in a SJ PHX game noone on these boards even knows about it unless u actually stayed up to watch the west coast games.
