Yeah this whole article stems from a whole bunch of Russian butthurt over losing in mens figure skating and hockey...but oh man does the author not hold back...

Quote:
we all know Canada lives in the shadow of its larger neighbour to the south. The abject cruelty shown by Canadian soldiers in international conflicts is scantily referred to, as indeed is the utter incapacity of this county to host a major international event, due to its inferiority complex, born of a trauma being the skinny and weakling bro to a beefy United States and a colonial outpost to the United Kingdom, whose Queen smiles happily from Canadian postage stamps.

Maybe it is this which makes the Canadians so…retentive, or cowardly.

Yikes...

Dear Russian reporter,

After you finish wiping the tears from your eyes in the aftermath of last nights slaughter, please use these tears to make more shitty vodka to drown your sorrows with since your country will not be able to play for the gold medal in hockey, nor can you continue to claim that Canada has never beaten the Russian team in more than 50 years of international play at the Olympics.

May you choke on a bowl of borch, you stinking commie robot.

Sincerely,

The country that just wooped your ass.

That quote was one "your momma" remark away from pure epic.

I can't wait to hear Grapes' rebuttal to this, should smooth things over on his opinion of Russians, even if a Brit wrote it :D

That was such a misrepresentation of fact anyways. In the last 50 years (not including last night), Canada and Russia had only played one meaningful game against each other, and that was in the 2006 Olympics. Before Turin, Canada - Russia Olympic games never featured professional hockey players, so the claim is worthless. I know the two teams have met during the World Championships, but that tournament really doesn't mean fuck all, since it's not best on best due to the NHL playoffs.

Good point, blusabre. But the NHL has been sending players since '98. Unless you mean we never played them since the NHL started sending players to the Olympics, until last night due to the scheduling format in the Olympics. I hear ya though.

In terms of overall international play, although it was exhibition, I believe in 1972 we played 8 games of great significance against the Russians ;)

Canadians are so nice, why hate on them. Even Miller said the trash talk has been very civil.

Cowherd interviewed Miller the other day, I'll see if I can post it later.

Yup, that's what I meant. Since the NHL has started sending players to the Olympics, the only two times Canada and Russia have faced off was in 2006 and obviously, last night.

And d'oh! Good point about the Summit Series. I don't know how I forgot about that.

Actually, the Summit Series led directly to the Canada Cup in 1976, which was renamed the World Cup of Hockey in 1996. September, 2011 is the next scheduled installment.

Hmmm, let's see...where would I rather live - Canada or Russia? That's like asking if I prefer blondes or crack head transgender prostitutes with an STD. (btw I prefer any hair color over crack head transgender prostitutes with an STD).

I'll take Canada please.

I just want to see someone lay the wood on him and smash his pansy ass through the boards.
