As well i still think we need to address the offensive side of the ball. I mean Kansas city fired Gailey as offensive coordinator, and more bad news Modkins worked with Gailey in georgia tech where gailey had the least success of his career.

You don't even wanna know the Modkins story, seriously. It would almost appear that Chan "likes" him.

Anywhos, you just need to pretend the Bills helmets are on another team medisabre.

Tebow’s new throw
Chris Brown
Posted February 22nd, 2010
Tags: NFL Combine, Tim Tebow
Florida QB Tim Tebow is not throwing at the combine later this week, but he has come a long way in changing the trajectory and arm angle of his throwing motion.

Working with former NFL coaches like CFL head coach Marc Trestman and former Bills QBs coach Sam Wyche, Tebow has revamped his throwing mechanics, which were in need of serious reform.

According to Adam Schefter’s report on Tebow’s progress, he’s now throwing from his shoulder more instead of his waist, as Tebow’s sidearm delivery is gone.

It’s not where they want it to be yet in terms of consistency, but Trestman confirmed the ball is coming out quicker and that Tebow will put his new delivery on display at his pro day.

Tebow will be at the NFL Combine this week for medical testing and interviews, but will not throw.

another reason why we should have brought in Trestman, it looks like he's been able to help fix Tebow. Stupid Chan Gailey. Oh and Daz i've always been a fan of a different team i just watch the Bills because they are the current home team, and my frustration comes from thinking that a commoner could fix this team and so called football professionals can't.

okay so i guess i'll lay out my NFL Draft plans pre combine.
Round 1:
1st pick - Okung LT (franchise LT)
2nd Pick Mike Iupati RT (pick traded for giving up marshawn +) (kid is tough as nails)

Round 2:
1st Pick - Brandon Spikes ILB (gives a ILB who can stuff the run and can cover a WR.

Round 3:
1st Pick: Tyson Alualu NT (provides a true NT for a 3-4 who can play DT as well) a dark horse who is moving up fast on a lot of boards, apparently can smash his way into the backfield and cause a ruckus.

Round 4:
1st pick: Toby Gerhart RB (replaces Marshawn, less of a headache, he was 2nd in votes for the heisman)

My LB's: Poz and Maybin on the outside. Spikes and Mitchell in the middle.

As for quarterback i'd look at Kevin Kolb of the Eagles or try to insure a low draft pick in next years draft and draft a locker or case keenum. for this year i'd rid of Edwards and focus on brohm if i can't get kolb.

I know Pittsburgh wanted Parrish, I'm sure Stevie Johnson has value. We have some Defensive Backs we could trade ie Corner, we have younger players we could trade if they don't fit the new scheme, say nick harris. the pats need help in the secondary, as do some other teams. we could land more 2nds. or add to the marshawn trade. As well Stroud is now useless as we have made the d- switch.

I know it makes the o-line awful young but talented. And lets face it this team is rebuilding, the last 10 years unfortunately. we mine as well bring in players who can become pro-bowlers and not the usual crap that has lead to this 10 year drought.

No Owens, Denney or Reed for 2010
Chris Brown, Lead Journalist
Posted 1 hour ago
AA
It looks like Terrell Owens 2009 season will be the only one he spends in Buffalo. The veteran wideout, and two of the longest tenured Bills on the roster will not be back with the club in 2010. Owens, Ryan Denney and Josh Reed were all informed by the club that they will not be offered new contracts thereby making them unrestricted free agents effective March 5th.

“We wanted to inform all three players ahead of the start of the free agency period so they could begin making their plans,” said Bills GM Buddy Nix. “We just felt that was the right thing to do. All three have represented our organization with class and we thank them for their dedication and hard work.”

Owens, who signed a one-year deal with the Bills last March, was brought on board in an effort to jumpstart Buffalo’s offense. However, he struggled to produce as injuries to Buffalo’s offensive line and quarterback shuffling led to all sorts of problems for the team’s passing game. The Bills ranked 30th in passing offense in 2009.

Owens did record the 1,000th catch of his career in his one season with Buffalo in Week 16 at Atlanta becoming only the sixth player in league history to reach the milestone. He moved into third-place on the NFL’s all-time receiving yards chart with 14,951 by season’s end.

The 14-year veteran thanked the Bills organization, owner Ralph Wilson and the Bills fans for their support last season via his twitter account.

For Denney and Reed the Bills are the only NFL organization they have ever known. Both were second-round draft choices of the club in 2002. As the last season of their contracts wound down in 2009, both veteran players knew there was a good chance they wouldn’t be back with the team in 2010.

“I’ve been fortunate to be here for eight years,” said Denney. “Obviously they’ve got some young guys coming up through the organization with the intention to play them. It’s not my decision to make. I’ll be looking forward to see what the future holds. I’m excited to see what’s available and what my opportunities are and I’ll go from there.”

“I look back on my career and I had my ups and downs, but I think I’ve been around long enough and I’ve done enough that if it’s not here that I could help some team in this league,” said Reed in December. “I feel like I still have some years in me and can be productive.”

Reed ranks fifth in team history in receptions with 311, while his 3,575 receiving yards ranks 10th on the Bills all-time list.

Denney was a valuable rotational defensive end that also had a solid role on special teams, which included a pair of touchdown receptions each of the last two seasons. He recorded 318 tackles and 23.5 sacks in his eight-year career.

looks only one i question is the denny as that trick play on special teams worked too well. so well that i'd give moorman a shot at QB.

i decided to change the title as quest for a coach is over for this year at least, much to most fans disappointment, and that includes those who can deal with the head coach but are appalled with the offensive coordinator pick (not only one Kansas City Reject we now have two).

Clausen meets with Bills
Chris Brown, Lead Journalist
Posted 6 hours ago
AA
NFL teams are allowed to conduct up to 60 personal interviews during the week long NFL combine in Indianapolis, and the Bills made sure to spend one of their 15-minute sitdowns with Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen.

“I met with the Redskins and the Bills last night,” said Clausen Saturday.

Washington holds the fourth overall selection, while Buffalo picks ninth.

Clausen is widely considered one of the top two quarterback prospects along with Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford. After dramatically improving his game as a junior in which he completed over 68 percent of his passes, threw for over 3,700 yards and had a touchdown to interception ratio of 7:1 he could very well be a top 10 pick.

The only hang up that NFL clubs are undoubtedly trying to clear up are the perceptions that the Notre Dame signal caller was not the best leader. Clausen is thankful that the combine interviews allow him to set the record straight.

“Some people say I’m cocky, I’m arrogant and I’m not a good leader, I’m not a good teammate. I think the people that are out there saying those things don’t know me as a person,” said Clausen. “That’s why I was so excited to come here and talk to all the coaches and the GMs and the owners so they get a feel for me as a person.”

Friday night was not the first time that Clausen had met with Bills head coach Chan Gailey, but the quarterback prospect was glad to see him again.

“I’ve met coach before,” said Clausen. “He was a great guy. We were in there and just talking, talking ball and just having a lot of fun. It was great to see him again.”

Gailey is known for catering his offense to the strengths of his quarterback. In his time with the Steelers he ran a power offense behind big back Jerome Bettis, which contrasted greatly with his most recent NFL attack in 2008 when he spread the Kansas City attack out often going four and five wide when the Chiefs turned to quarterback Tyler Thigpen in 2008.

Clausen unlike some of the other top quarterback prospects did not play in a spread offense, a scheme many believe does not sufficiently prepare quarterbacks for the NFL game. Clausen believes his time under a former NFL coordinator gives him an edge.

“I’ve obviously been in coach (Charlie) Weis’ system for the past three years,” he said. “I’m a little familiar with the west coast system. I’m not sure what coach’s system is going to be with the Bills, but whatever it is I’ve played under center for the past three years under coach Weis and we’ve been in shotgun. I’ve done a lot of different varieties of offenses.”

What is undeniable is Clausen’s production. His numbers improved each and every season with the Irish and he has some assets that few in the 2010 class possess at the position.

“Some of my strengths are taking care of the football, my accuracy, playing under center in a pro style offense, my durability, playing when I’m hurt and bringing my team back in the fourth quarter to win games,” Clausen said.

Bills Vice President of College Scouting Tom Modrak all but confirmed that Clausen is one of two quarterbacks at the top of the draft class in his assessment of this year’s group.

“There are a couple of people at the top that will get under the magnifying glass as much as they always do or more,” Modrak told Buffalobills.com. “Unfortunately there’s been some injuries that have slowed the process down for these players and for us, but that still has to play out. But there’s a couple at the top, and after that it’s not quite as deep as it had been.”

Clausen’s surgically repaired right big toe, which has two pins in it to promote healing will keep him from working out at the NFL combine. Despite some reports that Clausen’s toe would not allow him to work out fully prior to the NFL draft, he maintains that he’ll be all systems go come his April pro day.

“That’s what I’m shooting for, and the doctor said I’ll be ready,” Clausen said. “My scheduled date is April 9th.”

No way are we getting a 1'st for Marshawn Lynch. He is a bad egg; and the word is out on his horrible attitude. When you dis a hall of fame running back who is trying to help you; you're an ass. I don't even think you'd get a second rounder for him.

If you thought you could get Marshawn to focus, he'd be worth a early 2nd, imo. Tough task, but I think if you get his head right, you could get his pass catching right, and then he becomes dangerous.

I did say Marshawn plus, and unlike the NHL high draft picks cost a lot of money and if they bust. a lot of teams would rather have an established player. Heck teams are willing to sign stallworth (who killed someone), lynch has talent. I forgot to throw in if clausen and okung and bulaga are off the table i'm looking to trade back, try to get another second or maybe another first next year. As long as another aaron maybin isn't drafted.

Dante Stallworth did kill someone; but it was more a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Obviously the courts and victim's family did as well. A settlement, admitedly helped quell that situation.

He is not viewed as a pain in the ass in the locker room, while Marshawn is. Big difference.

Bills sign DT Favorite
Chris Brown, Lead Journalist
Posted 1 hour ago

The Bills made their first free agent signing a few days prior to when most NFL contracts expire, as the club reached an agreement with defensive tackle Marlon Favorite.

Favorite (6’1” 317) was an undrafted rookie free agent last year that was signed by the Carolina Panthers. He did not make their opening day roster, but spent time on the St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle and New Orleans practice squads in 2009.

The LSU product appeared in 40 games for the Tigers, making 17 starts. Favorite was a member of LSU’s 2007 National Championship team where he played both nose tackle and the three-technique tackle position in the Tigers 4-3 system.

nothing special yet

Bills tender four RFAs
Chris Brown, Lead Journalist
Posted 1 hour ago

The Bills announced that they have tendered four of their eight restricted free agents prior to Thursday’s midnight deadline. Linebacker Keith Ellison, tight end Derek Schouman, safety George Wilson and cornerback Ashton Youboty were all extended qualifying offers. The level of those tenders was not released per team policy.

The tenders allow Buffalo to retain the rights of all four players. If another team were to sign any one of them to an offer sheet, the Bills would have one week to match the offer or receive compensation in the form of a draft pick from that other NFL club.

This is the second straight year that Ellison has been tendered. He signed a one-year tender last offseason as a restricted free agent. Under the new uncapped year rules, Ellison was again a restricted free agent in 2010 as he has just four accrued seasons in the league. Players now need six years to be an unrestricted free agent.

Ellison was the team’s leading tackler for most of the first half of last season before a quad injury landed him on injured reserve Nov. 20.

Schouman’s season was cut short in Week 2, when during the most productive game of his young career, he suffered a torn meniscus in his knee. He has been rehabbing that injury all offseason here in Buffalo.

Wilson is coming off a career year in which he finished second on the team in tackles and second in interceptions with a career-high four in 2009.

The former practice squad player seized the starting strong safety job when Donte Whitner and Bryan Scott were both sidelined with injuries and did not give it back. Wilson also finished third on the team in special teams tackles.

Ashton Youboty’s original rookie contract expired this offseason, so the team tendered him as well. Youboty appeared in 11 games making one start at cornerback.

Not tendered
Those restricted free agents that were not tendered qualifying contract offers by the Bills include QB Gibran Hamdan, G Richie Incognito, TE Joe Klopfenstein and OT Jonathan Scott.

Those four players now become unrestricted free agents and are free to sign with any NFL club.

Al's Trestman named CFL coach of the year

Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman was named 2009 CFL Coach of the Year, the Canadian Football League announced today.

"This award recognizes coach Trestman's tremendous regular season and playoff success, and his team's Grey Cup victory, last year," Commissioner Mark Cohon said.

"But it also caps a remarkable two-year run for him, one that has seen his name come to represent excellence in our league."

Trestman led the Alouettes to the CFL's best record over the last two seasons with a 26-10-0 mark, two East Division Championships, two Grey Cup appearances and one Grey Cup victory. The Als were undefeated at home in 2009, scoring at least 600 points for the second year in a row while allowing just 324 points against - a team record and the second lowest total by any team since the CFL moved to an 18-game schedule in 1986.

Trestman thanked the entire Alouettes organization, particularly Alouettes' owner Bob Wetenhall, President and CEO Larry Smith, and General Manager Jim Popp, and paid high praise to his fellow coaches and the Alouettes players, led by quarterback Anthony Calvillo.

"In the 2009 Alouettes locker room, there was love and respect for each other, and for our opponents," said Trestman.

This marks the first time Trestman has won this award after being nominated in his first season in 2008. He was also named the CFLPA's Coach of the Year in both 2008 and 2009.

Hamilton's Marcel Bellefeuille and Saskatchewan's Ken Miller were also finalists.

Miller, entering his third season with Saskatchewan, led the Riders to top spot in the West Division with a 10-7-1 record. The club's Grey Cup berth was its second in three years.

Bellefeuille, an Ottawa native, led the resurgent Tiger-Cats to a 9-9 record, good enough for second spot in the East Division. It also secured the Ticats their first home playoff game since 2001 and first post-season berth since 2004.
