whew...boy i am glad i did too ! wow is it fast !!!

anyways...one problem i seem to have is in forums....you know when you view a thread, and then you go back into that same forum, there is that little symbol that shows if you have read it or not? or if there has been a new post in it ?
well for some reason firefox is not picking that up for me...i can read a thread only to have it show as unread...it happens here and another forum i go to....

any idea what is going on ?>
thanks,
MILM

Well, when it happens, it's because you just hit the back button (or use Alt+Left Arrow). If you just hit F5 to refresh when you go back, it'll fix it. If you click any of the forums links, it doesn't do it.

Enjoy FF, it's fantastic. Check out all the add-ons - sooooo fun!

No, if you have Adblock Pro installed see if the images are blocked with it.

My FF doesn't do any of that at all.

Chrome writes all sorts of nasty to your OS to better advertise to you. Balls to that.

I effin love Safari. I don't know how it is on windows, but it's hands down the fastest browser for mac. Plus it has some really nice features.

It sucks just slightly less than IE, IMO.

Well, you're doing something wrong :)
Honestly...if you start wandering away to Chrome, Safari, Opera etc. you're just getting more standards complaint AKA: less like IE. AKA more likely for little annoyances.
That "refresh when you hit the back browser button" thing sounds like a slutty IE trick. I doubt you'll find that in any other browser.

If you click back of course your emblems aren't going to change, but when the page refreshes it will then change, because your browser went backwards so it's going to be cached like it was when you first visited it.

What Skyline said. Firefox is safer, faster, and easier to use than IE and Chrome does all sorts of nasty little advertising things to your computer.

I had the same problem at first. I just hit the refresh arrow and if is fine. Firefox took some getting used to, and every so often a site doesnt load properly and I have to use IE for it, but after a couple of months, I was hooked, found the ins and outs, and use it for everything. PLUS, the security is far superior to IE. Never tried Chrome, but have tried Safari. For a Mac, its fine, but for PC it doesnt work well. Keep at it and you will find it better as you work with it.

Safari runs perfectly fine on the PC.

These browser wars are silly anyways. Use whatever you like that works for you, just not IE, only because it's insanely insecure.

Why so confrontational? For me Safari doesnt run well and from others I have talked to, it didnt work well on PCs for them either. And I havent gotten a sense of a war here, unless it is perceived as such by yourself.

Relax.

I'm not being confrontational. I'm simply stating that Safari works perfectly fine on PCs. Maybe your experience has been different.

With respect to 'browser wars', that term has been used since the Netscape/IE days. It has nothing to do with an argument in this thread, or anything of the sort.

Quote:
Browser wars is a metaphorical term that refers to competitions for dominance in the web browser marketplace.
