I really, really want him to do well, and do well consistently. I want him to do so well that he runs Stafford off the team. I want Mancari to become a household name to Sabres fans for his devastating hits and crease-crashing goals every game. I want to see him rip 95 mph slap shots on a nightly basis toward the net.

He just needs to want to be that guy. And he seems to not want it.

that might change though. i want mancari on the point during powerplays. he could be a dustin byfuglien.

Mancari on the point could be hazardous to Vanek's jaw.

Mancari on the point is where I've been begging for him to be with the Sabres pretty much every call-up he's had since forever.

I agree with you.

But can we have someone like Mair screen the goalie when he's out there instead?

For reals, we don't need him killing our expensive stars with his shot. Torres is a rental - put him there ;)

Phil, Mancari has been called up for a grand total of 11 games. Three games in 06-07 when there wasn't any room except by injury. Seven games in 08-09 when (I think) Darcy would've had the option to keep him up if Mancari hadn't disappointed with his defensive game (-4 in that span). Then he had one game earlier this season just for injury spot duty.

I know he hasn't impressed much yet, but you can't really call him a bust based on the limited games he's had so far. If he gets a legit run of 20+ games to get used to the pace and competition, and still comes up short, then we can start making final judgements. I don't necessarily think he will/will not be a bust, I just don't think he's had enough ice time for a fair assesment yet.

I see your point, it's just my opinion. Of course, I don't want him to be a bust. More than anyone, I want him to kick ass. Let's see if this is the beginning of a glorious career for Mancari.

Well, Phil, if it does happen that they click together, Stafford becomes expendable on draft day.
How high is Edmontons 1st rounder going to be? ;)

That's my dream right there - Mancari takes over and Stafford gets moved. Grier might not get re-signed, so that gives Kassian his chance to crack the line-up from camp. Suddenly, the Sabres RW spot becomes their strongest side.

 Stafford for Edmonton's next 2 1st rounders sounds fair for the beating they put on our cap for Vanek.

Yeppers, and the thought of Mancari breaking out and consistently contributing with the big club would be just an immense plus for everyone.

Kassian won't make the big club out of camp either.

I hate to rain on your parade but it's not going to happen.

I don't expect him to, but there's always that chance.

I have absolutely no idea what to expect, but I'm upbeat about this for some reason. Maybe a little size, and fresh thinking will be good.

I honestly don't think it's out of the realm of possibility. He's going to have to skate very well.

I liked it. It was unorthodox, but he made himself be noticed.
