I'm pretty sure the reason he has that contract was because it was given after the year him and Roy were ppg players. I think he had like 80 pts in 07-08.

Bingo.

And also, he was really stepping as a leader at the end of that season too. Remember how a lot of were harking him as being the full time captain before Rivet showed up.

Of course, Pominville could still be freaking amazing if he would just stop using slapshots haha

Like some people have already said, he has turned his game up lately, and this is good. Trying to guess if he's ever going to be the top line guy like he's paid to be is yet to be seen. I give him a fighting chance. The REAL season is upon us now, and we WILL find out who our real players are soon. Then we can talk some serious shit after.

This is all overblown. It's good that he is picking up points lately, but his stats listed in that article didn't make any difference. One freaking big goal to beat Ottawa doesn't make him captian clutch, and neither do elevated stats that didn't even lead to a playoff berth, let alone actually happen in a playoff series. If he comes through with consistent production during a successful playoff run then we can start talking about Pominville as if he's a clutch performer. For now he's been another player that has slightly underachieved so far.

I always felt he should have been given the same deal as Roy. Good to see the numbers down the stretch. Its pretty impressive actually.

PS Motzie, I think we all have a soft spot for Pomms after that goal. And I love the fact that it was a shorty too.

Also was the year when every player almost got 1 million for every ten points they put up also.

That was a great year for players getting paid but a terrible year for teams having to pay for players.

I need to eat crow here. I was one of the fans calling for his head. Give this guy a center and LWer to play with and he will achieve 80 points again.

My apologies to Pomminshit, err.......Crapinville, How about just Pomminville. He may not be the consistent playmaker or sniper we need, but he is clutch and is proving through his performance late in the season as well as his numbers that he is worth 5.5 mil a season.

Yes, the little guys are calming some of my fears. Pommers(and Kennedy) are taking hits for the team to make things happen. Near the end Kennedy took a massive double hit to make a touch pass. I was really worried what would happen when the pre-playoffs began, but it seems they are ready for it. Let's hope they last for the run. A better seed will make it easier on them anyways.

For his NHL career, in two playoffs, 34 games, Pominville has 9 goals and 11 assists for 20 points. Not bad.

He's definitely got a "Stu Barnes" thing going on.

Hopefully this playoff season he can nail another team's Stanley Cup dreams shut.

And he was still very young when he achieved those numbers.

I swear to god, any time we have a player who is not playing up to our expectations, make a thread with the words FUCK in it. FUCK YOU HECHT and the Tallinder thread all worked amazingly.
