everything is great so far....just curious though....what will happen at those crazy times like trade deadline, etc....will these boards give us that "ips driver error" , or something like it ?

I think a dedicated gigabit ethernet connection, 2 quad core CPU's and 8Gigs of RAM can handle a message board with 100 members.

I may take it offline every now and then to optimize some tables in Mysql, but other than that it should be fine.

It's not a bad machine...
The only bottleneck that could arise would be concurrency at the database level.
Not to sound like a snooty nerd, but Mysql isn't really a database, it's a glorified hash table. So there could be table locking issues if hundreds of people were all trying to post simultaneously. But I don't see that volume ever happening.

If someone just types in Sabresjunkie in Google this is the first site that pops up.

That is why we always see Google Bots come by late at night getting the info on the site and stuff.

If keeping the forum small is what you're after, I think Crosscheck can turn off user registration. I personally don't really care how many people join. When a forum starts to get ugly with trolls, I am so outta there.

I doubt people are finding this place with Google. If you search for "sabres forum" this isn't listed until the 4th page.
I actually only submitted this domain to dmoz last week so I doubt if it is part of any google / yahoo / AOL / MSN / etc. default crawl.

Google just shows up because I had adsense on this domain a couple years ago.
