Can we please trade connolly so he can get to a different team, have a point burst and finally be worth the roster spot he's taking up on my fantasy team?

I definitely agree with vanek being moved from in front of the net on the PP. I dont know who else could go there, but i'd like to see what vanek could do elsewhere.

On another note, I was unpleasantly non-surprised to see pominville utterly fuck up such a beautiful chance late in the third. He somehow managed to shoot the puck almost directly straight up in the air from the surface of the ice. And I thought constantly shooting it into the exact center of the goalies chest was annoying.

Goose in the Goalies face on the PP?

Certainly, he will win the face-offs too, he played a heck of a game. As did other big bodied forwards McCormick and Ellis. Hecht. Grier. Neidermeyer. Myers. There's no shortage of guys who can get on the goalies nerves in front of the net. And they can certainly put Vanek back in front of the net if he is slumping or if somebody else catches fire shooting the puck. You never want to become complacent or predictable on the power play, that's the one area of the game that can be switched around even during times when it's successful. Winning all of these one goal games without a great power play is bizarre.

That's where he belongs, among the elite.

Buffalo is tied for 7th in the NHL in PP opportunities. 25th in goals. 27th in percentage. And dead last, giving up 4 short handed goals.

In 20 games they have scored 9 PPG and have given up 4 SHG.

On the road it's 14%, at home it's 8.6%.

They need change, and not the same old solid like Barack fake change, but real change!

Power play specialist Tim Connolly has only 4 PPP, zero PPG. He's not winning his share of PP face-offs either. The power play is his time to shine, it's not happening so far.

I don't want Myers in front of the net on the PP, his shot is more useful getting through.

Also, I didn't think of Hecht being a Center, but I don't really like him as a Center, and didn't Gerbe play Center at one point in college? If Not we can do the Gerbe, Hecht, Pominville line then, I would try that then. Bench Connolly and bring Stafford back.

Stafford has a separated shoulder and isn't coming back any time soon. He looks depressed.

He needs to rub some dirt in there and suck it up the big baby.

You can't argue when the Sabres kept the best player in the league to only 4 SOG and goals. Last week the kept him to only 1 SOG. Not bad at all....

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

He was held to only a shot by a couple of other teams too, so at least some of the Sabres success against him has to do with Ovechkin himself, as well. He is in one of his rare slumps.

It doesn't really matter where you line up on the power play, Hecht could play LW and then move to the front of the net as they set up, and even Myers could move to the front of the net from the point once a game. When a power play is that bland and unsuccessful you better be willing to try a lot of different things.

Just a couple years ago Vanek lead the league with 20 ppg, so I don't know what's changed since then...

.... probably not much, teams figured it out and adjusted and the sabres didn't adjust enough... or it could be the loss of some talent that allows teams to focus more on TV.... either way, like you said, shake it up a little and lets see what happens...
