No, but I worked on a farm when I was a kid, so I know what a load of crap looks like. It looks like a guy walking around with a Blackberry wearing a very "Metro" suit jacket.

No DJ is a music innovator. He may be a great sound arranger, but that's hardly the same thing.

Sound innovator yes. Music innovator, no. Otherwise, its insulting to anyone who ever picked up an instrument and tried to figure it out.

If you make it on your Mac, its just sound. Yes, that includes Trent.

no one said that. i think the implication is that the only music innovators are the ones actually physically making the music. people are questioning the innovator part, not the music part

I think what makes a good DJ is that they can take music and songs that everyone has heard before but can make it sound new, fresh, and different. I think that can be considered innovation.

Didn't say I didn't like it. Its just not music...its sound. Just my opinion. One guy painted the Mona Lisa from scratch, the other one did an exact copy...which one's art and which one's commerce?

I hardly call someone who plays with beats and synths on the same level as someone who plays an instrument. You can play a guitar as badly as Kurt Cobain and be innovative.

But if he was "Steven Tyler" ugly is this even a conversation? Its the packaging...and why I can't take it at the same level.

Electronic music is still music. It's just different music. It takes musical talent, just different specialized pieces.

My 5 year old nephew can play drums and guitar well, but he also loves to jump on the synth and do all kinds of crazy shit. He knows music, and makes it in different forums.

Plenty of physical instrument musicians can't make digital music. Plenty of digital musicians can't play physical instruments.

Plenty can do both too.
