Hey guys, wanted to throw a post up to see what everyone thought of the play in last nights game against Toronto.

I for one must eat my humble pie (a bit of it) because I was pretty impressed with Jochen's play. He got a pretty assist and a nice wrap around and even his hustle and effort was high. As for the goats....could Tallinder and Lalime be more of a perfect recipe for disaster? Hank screws up a clear or lets a guy blast by him and Patty is out of position or gives up a juicy rebound....and then is out of position. :shifty:

I'm not sure how much stock to put into last night's game. Toronto was dog tired after a hectic pre-season schedule and Buffalo was on the back end of two in a row after a very physical game in Montreal. Ron Wilson even said, "I think both team were pretty disinterested tonight". Lalime played very well in his previous starts so far, but I still don't expect much from Tallinder. I do expect more out of Hecht if he stays as the 3rd line LW, if only to play responsibly and not screw up. The way he has typically thrown any puck at the net from any angle could be a fine recipe for two big linemates that like to crash the net for ugly goals.

I hope the games are like that offensively but so much better on the defense.

I have really liked what I have seen out of Myers. I think he makes smart plays and has a great combination of hands, speed and brains. I wish he was a bit heavier and had a few more years to get gritty but it will come.

I think you're right about fatigue to a certain point and still being a pre-season game it is hard to tell if this is the team we will see Saturday or not. As for Lalime though, this guy just doesn't have the chops to play net for a team like Buffalo with a fast offense and a mediocre defense. He has (from what I can see) virtually no control over the tempo of play in his zone (I call him Rebound Boy) and doesn't seem to have the presence of a leader or the communication he needs between him and the D. I hope a guy from Portland can step up and perform better if this trend continues.

Myers is 19; from a physiological standpoint, he should eventually wind up at about 235 to 245 at that height and wing span....

He is supposed to be, what, 225 lbs now? I think thats big enough...
