...but please, keep blaming things on Bush.

This is utter insanity.
$170,000 of debt per household in 2020.

Hey! Maybe the Democrats can think up of some more entitlements and unfunded mandates...those kick ass!
Why shouldn't we have every entitlement? We're America! We can provide for our citizens!

You want to kow what the Chinese are doing with a good portion of the debt they are buying from us then turning that purchase into economic strength?

Here you go: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... past-asia/

They won't openly admit estimates, but, at about the same year (2020) the Chinese will over take the U.S. as the worlds premier super power as far as military strength goes. They will exceed the U.S. in economic strength by 2016.

So, how do you like either party now. Because, to be quite frank and honest here, both political parties are equally at fault for allowing this to happen.

It's only a matter of time before a country with 3bajillion people catches up with us, but come on. Not China!

:angry-soapbox: This is why I absolutely hate politics and politicians. IMHO, Our "leaders" have no sense of what a real democracy is. They do what they want, when they want without a second thought on how "we the people" really feel. This country has been going downhill for years and there is no way of stopping it...

There are more "realities" than one. Many people see China surpassing us like a Ferrari, but I see them having the same growing pains as anyone else, except maybe by multiples of 50. Pollution and human rights will be MASSIVE issues for the Chinese in days to come. Will they be able to afford energy when it becomes less affordable. I think looking at it from an economic standpoint only is foolhardy.

We have a representative republic. It is probably better than a direct democracy, because it eliminates the nitwits from having any say. I always get a bit upset when people say, "it's not what the people want". The "people" are interested in Hanna Montana, cheeseburgers, and what their neighbors are doing, not the problems of the world. I'm fine with having smarter than average people represent us all. I just don't want the will of campaign contributor's to reign over that of the people's best interest.

Actually daz, if you want the numbers, here you go.
Out of every 10 potential renewable energy projects Eninthal (my company) is offered a chance to participate, 8 of them are in China.
They will surpass the rest of the world in wind farm build out by 2015. They will surpass Brazil in sugarcane to ethonal by 2018, they will surpass the combined entire globe with solar power output (both thermal and pv) by 2022. Oh, and they will have the most technologically advanced mag-lev rail buildout, both locally (in urban transportation) and nationally (population center to population center) by 2026.
These numbers are not estimates, they are target goals of the Chinese government. Currently, the Chinese have the most sophisticated mag-lev system in the world. They are also looking at vacuum tube technology for transportation of cargo as well as mass transit. That is cutting edge technology and its the Chinese that lead the world in current research and development.

only 31% of Americans had a favorable view of the health care bill.
Our representatives knew this and passed it anyway...with only a portion of 1 party.
I guess that means 69% of the country falls into that "nitwit" category for you.

Furthermore, politicians are not our best and brightest citizens. They're lawyers that specialize in covering their own asses and taking as much money and power they can get their greasy little hands on.

I agree with you that I want smarter than average people represent us but your last sentence is the problem. Campaign contributors are the one in control and make most of the decision of this country.

Is the way we conduct elections a problem? We've got people who sit around all day not paying taxes getting the same votes as Captain America over here who pays taxes, served in -inset military branch here- and no debt (save on a house/new car. nobody pays for that shit up front)

Governmental giveaways are a powerful vote getter....

Bahahahaha.. This article proves that statistics can truly be made up. Plus the fact that the washington times is ultimately conservative really makes me want to believe that. At this point the republicans/conservatives are going to say anything to gain a few seats in congress next election. That shows how scared they are.

I'm writing this one off as scaretactics.. Just horrible that this could be allowed.

I think that 68% of Americans had a favorable view of the health care bill.

I guess that means 32% of the country falls into that "nitwit" category for him.

I believe it was a gallup poll taken just days before the vote. I can go find it for you if you like.
The poll questions are what's important.
The question was whether they supported the Senate version of the bill that the house voted upon and it got people from both sides hating.
Conservatives didn't like the bill for obvious reasons and more liberal democrats polled against it because it diodn't include a public option.
If you word the poll more generally, like" do you think we need health care reform" the poll numbers, of course, go up.
Those are the polls you cite.

Interestingly enough, a majority, 59%, of independents support repealing the bill.

Yeah, I don't get all heated up about Polls since you don't _really_ know who they polled. For all we know they polled 3 year olds....

I happen to be of the position that I get to do the polling. Being polled is not an option. Not even by the sexy Frank Lutz( who always looks like he's mad at you, because you wanted to talk about complete bs forever right after he had just shit his pants). Sorry Frank, a little water on the TP will fix ya right up.
