2 wins, 1 OT loss, 1 tie with Miller in net. You can't count the shootout as anything but a tie since that's what it is in the playoffs. Even the OT loss is suspect since playoff OT is 5 on 5, and we're not great 4 on 4.
I really hate this kinda spin.
Face it, Boston played the Sabres tough all season long and were awfully banged up most of that time. They played 38 different players this season. Thirty-eight. They have some health back (sans Savard) and are not going to lay down. And as others have said, don't write off Rask, as he is the only netminder in the league with better numbers than Miller (I know, less games, blah, blah, blah).
You are trying to talk yourself into the idea of Sabre dominance over the Bruins. Ain't gonna be that easy.
And there are no ties in the playoffs.
Egh, I'm right and I have no problem with it. The fact is there are no shootouts and four on four overtimes in the playoffs so you can't really think of the two extra time losses as anything beyond end of regulation ties if you want to transfer their result to an indication of how this series might go.
Boston had very few goals scored and very few goals allowed so they pretty much played everyone tough, the sabres are no different in that respect.
I took the Sabres in six, which isn't exactly dominance. I have no desire to talk myself into anything being supremely confident that the outcome will be the outcome regardless of what I say or do. History has shown this has been the case 100% of the time.
There is a reason one of these teams finished third and the other finished sixth. If it were the NFL playoffs I might be a bit more nervous about the potential outcome, but over the course of a seven game or less series with the ability to adapt night in and night out to the same opponent, I see the Sabres faring very well regardless of what the season series might tell you.
