This is the third thread this guy has contributed in where the stats do not back up his argument.
Oh really?
Could it be instead that you just don't like my observations?
Yes. I do not like things that are incorrect. Like the caps playing less one goal games than other teams, or the playoffs being more defensive.
Fact is, the Caps are THE most dynamic team on the ice right now. They are exciting to watch and are difficult to play against, if for no other reason than NO LEAD IS SAFE.
Spin the numbers any way you want. Hair-split percentages and totals if you choose. (Caps, by the way, hold the top 4 +/- AND 8 of the top 18). Their roster talent and energy is unmatched and THAT is playoff-friendly-as-hell.
The 2006-07 Sabres team had the best goal differential in the regular season. Those Sabres were the equivalent of this years Caps.
They barely made the ECF but getting lucky in the final 5 seconds because Lundqvist and the Rangers defense shut us down all game until Drury pegged it in. If the Rangers had won that game, Game 6 would have been in the Ranger's favor at home.
Here's some +/- numbers from that season:
Afinogenov: +19
Briere: +17
Campbell: +28
Kalinin (yes, Kalinin): +19
Vanek:
+47What did that get from this team? A series blowout from Ottawa in which the team
could not score. Please. Give us more evidence that playoffs aren't more defensive? We're not the ones spinning stats, here.
