And I think the comment about Paul Hamilton is unfair. I actually appreciate Hamilton's brutal honesty. I hear him rave about team positives and royally rip them for the nonsense. I don't like hearing excuses and smoke blowing. And speaking of blowing, I don't on the other hand, think using the phrase "blow the lead" to Lindy's face just after the game was the best choice of words. Yikes!
You haven't been around that long, so you probably don't know about my loathing of Paul Hamilton. The guy is no more qualified to provide his hockey opinion than you, me, or anyone else here.
His playing experience consists of high school and pickup games at the Pepsi Center. That's it. Ever notice how major sports networks have anchors to tell you what happened, then former players to tell you what it means? That's the way to do it. Hamilton's job is to follow the team around, and report on the games and the players. He's not any more of an expert than anyone who watches their practices or every game.
I used to think the same way as you, Powerplayer.
But lately, he's done nothing but piss me off.
He should tell the story, and not be part of the story. He's become the story too many times by asking a dumb ass question and getting someone riled up. When he asked Ruff this question, he KNEW it would get a rise out of him, and he fucked over every other reporter in the room that may have had a legitimate question about the game.
He's made comments in intermissions about how a particular player 'sucks tonight', and then Lindy comes out in the postgame and says that the same player played well, giving some specifics. Who am I supposed to believe, the longest tenured head coach in the league, or the guy that couldn't coach a midget team getting ice cream at Andersons?
I'm not saying the guy shouldn't give some opinions, or be critical, but he acts like he knows more than the coaching staff and professionals who have been doing it longer than he has been in broadcasting.
