He's young, us young kids do stupid things.
It's no excuse. The guy had a dirty headshot, a bar fight, and presumed an asshole. It's nothing to just meh at.
I see where you're coming from, B&Y, totally. And although I'm not condoning what he has done in the past with regards to his Jr. career, I have to say that I'm excited as shit to see this kid in our uniform. He's a big, strong, tough SOB that has some decent hands, which is something we've been missing on this team for a while. With no deal in place going into camp, I'm assuming he knew he had to have a change of mind as to how he represented himself, the Spitfires as well as the Sabres. He knew he had to change some things if he wanted his meal ticket to be in Buffalo, as opposed to another year in Jr. I'm not saying he's seen the light over night or anything, but when you have a kid who has some kind of a decent head on his shoulders and you dangle the keys to his NHL future before his eyes; a come-to-jesus-talk can do wonders.
No doubt in my mind he will pancake a lot of guys in the NHL, but there is also always someone bigger & stronger than him floating around on the ice that will likely keep him grounded either with this club, or on an opposing team (See the Boogie-man in NY.). If he goes down the path of the arsehole in the NHL, someone will make an honest man out of him. But I’ll be cheering him on as long as he wears our sweater and represents the team and the uniform with class!
