I honestly expected Myers to take a step back. Miller too. But the whole team pretty much did as well.

In many, if not all cases, 87, your team will only go as far as your goaltending. It's just the way it is.
That being said, I'm not blaming this season's start on Miller/Lalime, one bit! They are the last line that the opposition should have to try to go through, not the first or second, which has been the case on more than one occasion this season (See both Chicago games). You're right in that majority of the team has taken a step back. Some who were dogged from last year are playing at/above par or very solid while others who were praised for their efforts last season need some depends for shitting the bed. What was up is now down and vice versa and they seem to not know who they are or what identity they want to brand themselves. One period, they come out flying with killer puck possession, the next it seems to be going through the motions.
