Enroth is 22, with 4 career NHL games under his belt, and one AHL season.
It's too early to say what he will be. Just like it was for Miller at the same age.
Isn't this Enroth's third season since he crossed the pond to play in NA?
Yea, you're right, he played two AHL seasons already.
But, the thing with Miller was he played college until he was 23-24, then came into the AHL, he was still older then Enroth when he came to the AHL, therefore, he should have had better numbers as he should have been further in his development too.
i cant do it anymore. i cant lurk and not comment on this retarded ass thread.
miller was a rookie in the AHL at 22. he also played 15 NHL games that year. at 23, his last scheduled AHL season, he struggled in the NHL a few games. he was to become the sabres starter in 04-05, at age 24, but the NHL locked out.
enroth has played admirably in his time this season. ive been rather happy with his play. and im excited to see him more. but his main flaw is lateral movement, which is the cardinal sin of goaltending. you can get away with bad reflexes and even bad positioning. you cant get away with bad lateral movement. and its not something you develop. you either have it, or you dont. he doesnt. doesnt mean he wont be a decent goalie, ray emery is a fantastic example of a goalie with limited mobility can succeed, but caps his potential. the best example from another sport i can give is chad pennington. he had an extremely weak arm, but did everything else well. he had himself a good NFL career, but never was able to get to the next level, because his one weakness was the one weakness you cant get away with.
he plays deep in the net, for a few reasons. 1, hes adjusting to the speed of the game. once hes used to the NHL speed, he wont sit so deep. however, with limited mobility, he will always sit deeper in the crease. also, i think this is because he is from sweden, where goalies do sit deeper due to the wider ice.
enroth has potential to become a decent goalie, in fact, hes already pretty good. but i dont see him as a long term solution.
as for playing him over miller? not a snowballs chance in hell.
hope all is well, i still love reading what you all have to say.
