this thread shouldnt be for "hey isn't this show great? god i love the pens! the caps are douches and i'll find any reason to hate them like making up stuff thats not true, wooo!"

The show is really awesome, and since I already hate the Caps, it's even more awesome for me. The Pens are okay, if you're perceiving a crush on their team that's your problem not mine. I think it's pretty obvious who I'm rooting for, but that has more to do with me hating the Craps then liking the Pens.

I can't wait for the next episode!

I wish I had HBO right now. That first episode was great. I love how the refs egg the fighters on and tell them to keep going.

I thought it was passably entertaining. HBO's production crew did a good job putting everything together and getting some good in-game shots.

As for the teams themselves, I thought it was telling how little they focused on Crosby. It just goes to so you how boring and personality-less he actually is as a human being. I bet they have tons of extra footage of him that is just boring as hell and unsuitable for TV. Bylsma needs to learn from Boudreau to be more entertaining.

Told you, and Crosby haters like yourself will surely be satisfied by the simple fact that he's in it! It's can't fail television, hockey fans either love or hate Ovie and Sid.

People who don't even like hockey, will love this show and will think about hockey differently for sure. This is a huge step for hockey! Not only is ESPN going to want exclusive coverage back, but they will probably try to produce reality shows about it themselves! And although their production will likely suck ass, it's still potentially entertaining!

I don't hate Crosby, I think he's the best player in the league. I just think its pretty apparent at this point that he isn't interesting by any definition of the word. You have to admit for a league that wants to shove Crosby down our throats, there was surprisingly little of him on 24/7 and what parts there were, weren't the least bit entertaining. Personally, in rooting for a player, I have to like who they are as a guy (as best I can tell) in addition to how they play on the ice, and I would never be a fan of Crosby, even if he were a Sabre.

I don't think 24/7 is going to be the driving force behind ESPN wanting a piece of hockey again. The Winter Classic has been going on for four years now and it still hasn't happened. If the Winter Classic was ever going to do that, it was going to be after the first Classic which had the largest crowd and the best atmosphere in the most passionate American hockey city.

For those with Time Warner cable, the censored version is available for free on Sports on Demand.

i don't agree. at all. the nhl has done everything they could think of to try to draw in those casual, non-hockey loving fans more. nothing as worked, yet. and i don't see this show having strong of a draw as you're thinking it would. also, lets be honest, someone who isn't a hockey fan and was scanning channels, probably would skip 24/7 right on over.

imean, i liked the show. but if i weren't a hockey fan, i don't think there was anything in particular about the show that would have drawn me into the game itself.

The only thing that the NHL has done to draw in the non-hockey fan that has worked is create the Winter Classic. That's it. And soon (could be next season, or season after) the lustre will wear off.

The censored version was terrible. They didn't even bleep anything, it was just cut out completely.

I think if they had bleeped it, there would have been so many bleeps when Boudrou was talking that what he was saying would have been incomprehensible. I'm not even joking. They just had to cut out all the F bombs, so we could understand what he was saying.

I actually sat down and watched it yesterday and I didn't mind it. My favourite parts of the first episode was when Fleury called Max Talbot a douche, Matt Cooke telling Fleury to fuck off during a team shootout and every time they showed the Caps lose. :D

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Bruce Boudreau is HILARIOUS. This the rest of this series is as good as this show, it will be a great thing for the sport. This is phenomenal.

EDIT2:

The prank at the Adam's Mark was the funniest shit I've ever seen.

Edit 3:

Me and Max Talbot want the same thing for Christmas. Haha

It seems like he doesn't know what he's talking about a lot, so he compensates with a string of f-bombs. Bylsma, on the other hand, seems like a great coach. He really knows what he's talking about.

Seems like there's definitely some buzz from non-hockey fans about it. Look, I'm not suggesting that this is going to catapult hockey above all other major sports but this show can only help create new fans. Personally I've allows liked hockey better then other sports, but I've also wondered why it's not beloved by most people in American. I think the reasons are pretty simple: no fucking ice, no money for gear, and not enough exposure.

Quote:
One of the NHL's objectives in giving film crews full access during the regular season was to promote the sport and its Jan. 1 outdoor Winter Classic at Heinz Field. Orpik said, judging by some of the feedback he got, it is working.

"I got texts from a lot of people that watched it, people I haven't heard from for a while, people who besides being friends with me really aren't hockey fans," he said. "It's getting people to tune in who probably normally wouldn't tune in to hockey.

"The [texts] were positive. A couple of people asked me if I was still on the team because they didn't see me on the show. I said, 'That's the way I like it. Keep it that way.' "
