We all knew the playoffs were an outside chance, (AND I FULLY EXPECT TO GET FLAMED FOR THIS COMMENT BY MANY DIE HARDS) but now I'm hoping this team loses and big for the remainder of the season. We need offensive help and desperatly. No trade for offensive help this season can fix this rosters woes.
From a guy who bitches about having a losing culture (zero stanley cups), that's exactly what you're encouraging the Sabres to perpetuate.
Isn't your favorite saying something like "losers go home alone, winners go home with the girl?" Pretty sure winners don't ever lose on purpose, or encourage poor performances.
That having been said, Lindy needs to have Vanek around 20 minutes a game, every game.
You really want to have the war of words, ok, lets lay it on the table.
This team isn't going home to fuck the prom queen, they're going home with the fat chick in the corner who wasn't asked to dance. Does that solve your dilemma with regards to my comments? Good.
Your malformed analogy does absolutely nothing to address my comments. If you really want to use that analogy, the Sabres are hitting on the prom queen (trying to win a stanley cup) and being rejected. Actually I think that losing for picks is closer to going home with the fat chick since you're resigning yourself to a fate with someone (or a draft pick) that probably won't be anything better than a disappointment.
How does rooting for a team to lose jive with a winning culture at all, regardless of the draft pick (read dude who may/may not ever pan out) that is available? I know you're not directly saying that you want a lack of effort, but your comment implies that you wouldn't mind poor performances.
Now, with a team that everyone thinks has motivation issues, why would you even remotely imply that a lack of effort could be a good thing?
Furthermore, if your desire is to improve the roster, how does rooting for losses make the Sabres an appealing destination for any player? Would YOU want to root for a team that packs it in when the season isn't even half over?
