We all knew the playoffs were an outside chance, (AND I FULLY EXPECT TO GET FLAMED FOR THIS COMMENT BY MANY DIE HARDS) but now I'm hoping this team loses and big for the remainder of the season. We need offensive help and desperatly. No trade for offensive help this season can fix this rosters woes.

From a guy who bitches about having a losing culture (zero stanley cups), that's exactly what you're encouraging the Sabres to perpetuate.

Isn't your favorite saying something like "losers go home alone, winners go home with the girl?" Pretty sure winners don't ever lose on purpose, or encourage poor performances.

That having been said, Lindy needs to have Vanek around 20 minutes a game, every game.

You really want to have the war of words, ok, lets lay it on the table.
This team isn't going home to fuck the prom queen, they're going home with the fat chick in the corner who wasn't asked to dance. Does that solve your dilemma with regards to my comments? Good.

Your malformed analogy does absolutely nothing to address my comments. If you really want to use that analogy, the Sabres are hitting on the prom queen (trying to win a stanley cup) and being rejected. Actually I think that losing for picks is closer to going home with the fat chick since you're resigning yourself to a fate with someone (or a draft pick) that probably won't be anything better than a disappointment.

How does rooting for a team to lose jive with a winning culture at all, regardless of the draft pick (read dude who may/may not ever pan out) that is available? I know you're not directly saying that you want a lack of effort, but your comment implies that you wouldn't mind poor performances.

Now, with a team that everyone thinks has motivation issues, why would you even remotely imply that a lack of effort could be a good thing?

Furthermore, if your desire is to improve the roster, how does rooting for losses make the Sabres an appealing destination for any player? Would YOU want to root for a team that packs it in when the season isn't even half over?

Wow. This thread makes me sooooo happy that I turned it off after Pominville's goal and watched a "Everybody Loves Raymond" marathon instead.

 I just wanted to get that in here before someone else did since some how, Patty would factor into this team losing and would be called out even if he was scratched and Enroth was called up for back up duty. :P

Rivet must have loved this road trip knowing he'll be back in the lineup next game.

This years team is a complete joke but at least they will pick top 5 in the draft.

Great, I can't wait to see another older Weber/Butler play.

They showed up tonight and got beat.

We're lacking in some areas and they'll prevent us from making the playoffs if things don't change quick.

But I'm glad I had an entertaining game to watch. They just need to find some swagger. They battled hard, but came up short.

I don't know. I've lowered my expectations and I think that organizationally we have some promising things both in the pipeline and on this team.

Sit tight, Sabres fans. Good things are on their way.

Too many streaky players and players being paid big money and not putting up big money points.

Remember how most of us (except me) were happy to see Rob Niedemayer sign here :?: :?: :?: I know he`s been hurt but he is fucking brutal. It also pretty fucking pathetic that the two best players right now seem to be kaleta and mccormick.

Dude, what game were you watching?? Lightning owned us and outchanced us by 3 or 4 to 1. It could easily have been 6-1 without Miller's heroics. I can't remember more than a couple of good scoring chances all game. PP sucked (they almost had 2 shorties against us) and our D wilted against their forecheck. Lightning must have had a least half a dozen odd man rushes.

If this is how they show up, then Tampa is a serious contender on top of their game.

That. They didn't show up. They had 12 shots on goal after 2 periods and Tampa was more dangerous shothanded than our PP. Miller was the only reason it wasn't a blowout.
They are a team of underachievers except a few of them.

I'm not so thrilled about our pipeline. We don't have anything left except for Kassian. Weber sucks, he seems to be a good guy with the perfect attitude but with his passing and puck handling he shouldn't be on a NHL team.

I agree with you except for your last statement. Tampa can't even think about going to the SCF with the goaltending they have. No way.

For the most part, I agree with everything Slesh has said.

I think after blowing thousands and thousands of dollars that support a team, not to mention the emotional frustration Buffalo fans have gone through, they're perfectly in the right to have a *little* sense of entitlement. And generally speaking, the older the wiser.

You're only wiser with regards to something if you have practical experience in it. Fans have no practical experience. It's like expecting to be an adept nuclear scientist after years of watching one, it makes no sense.

Looking forward to a draft pick in the NHL is a waste of time and effort. Hoping that a team loses to get said high draft pick is even worse.

Very rarely do draft picks have immediate impact on a team. It's even rarer for a single top 10 pick to come in as an 18 year old kid and turn an entire franchise's fortunes around.

We're 25th in G/G, 20th in GA/G, or something along those lines. Recipe for not winning if I've ever seen one.

Trading Miller for a star forward starts to look pretty appetizing.

Or we could just give our team a Semin infusion next June...

The Sabres are just about out of playoff contention statistically speaking.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/

4.6% chance of making the playoffs. This roster couldn't touch that number. Its over this season, but the new ownership and off season look very promising. The Trade Deadline should be extremely interesting as well.
