He didn't bury it. Yankee makes a strong point.
No, he doesn't.
999 times out of 1000 that shot is a goal. This one wasn't because of a fluke stick being in the way. Adam did the right thing. The puck was away from his body, and goalie was down. He shot quick. Had he pussy footed around and brought the puck in to a position where he could elevate it, the goalie would have more than likely recovered, and people would be mother fucking him for waiting so long to shoot.
If I'm there, with an open net like that, I'm shooting fast. My coaches as a kid would have stapled my ass to the bench for a week if I tried to get fancy with it.
Have we become so arrogant as fans that we are going to start deciding how good goals are? We're going to start commenting that Player X scored on a play, but he's no good because he went 5 hole instead of top shelf?
The bottom line is that Luke Adam was in the correct place at the correct time and made the correct play. It was very unlucky for him to have hit Ennis' stick. That's it.
Yeah, he does.
He didn't need to take more time to elevate it, Squanto. He was already in good position. He didn't have to pull it back or anything. An extra flick of the wrist is all it would have taken.
I see opportunities to score get blown ALL THE TIME because a body or a stick is laying down in the crease and a player failed to elevate it. That wasn't a fluke play. Players end up in the crease behind the goaltender quite often.
Proven goal scorers know that and do it. Briere was awesome at it.
Luke is a rookie and he'll pick up on it.
