It's a flawed concept but I still like to figure out the difference of a players +/- with that of the teams Net +/-. The net +/- is the filtered number after special teams have been eliminated.
Anaheim's Team Net +/- is -12 (23rd worst in the NHL). So with Totally Lydman being a +24, he's
+36 above his teams standard of even strength play. That's extremely good!
Chicago is a +9, Campbell is a +23 so that makes him a +14. Very good.
Mezzer is a +28 but the Cryers are a leagues best +46, making him a -18. So now you see how this way of looking at +/- is very flawed, but it does help to put things into perspective with relation to a teams success.
The Sabres are ranked 22nd at a -10.
