Tough situation with Enroth. He's not going to supplant Miller as the starter anytime soon, and as a backup, he'd get very limited playing time. He looks like NHL starter material to me.
He's a RFA at the end of the year, so it will be interesting to see what kind of qualifying offer he gets from Buffalo, or if he gets offer sheets from other teams. I wouldn't be surprised to see some teams come knocking at the door with a decent offer sheet for him to be a potential starter, but more than the Sabres would be willing to pay him as a backup or minor leaguer.
Would the Sabres want to keep him for maybe 2M/year, or would they let him walk without compensation?
You're delusional if you think Enroth is going to be getting any offer sheets from any team to be a starter in this league.
Our only RFA that someone would even consider is Stafford.
Ok, then, well the Sabres need to offer him close to 1.5M as a qualifying offer. Do they do that for a backup or minor leaguer? Or do they not make an offer and let him become an UFA and lose him for nothing. I say they give him a QO for 2 years, give him a chance to develop his game in the NHL as a 20 game/year starter (or more depending on Miller's health) and see what he turns into.
You don't understand the QO at all. Enroth is making a cap hit of 0.685 with a bonus of .215. I'm not sure if the bonus count as part of the QO or not, but I'll do both numbers. He makes more than 660K, so he only needs to get offer 105% of that contract, and that equates to $719,250 as his qualifying offer, bare minimum on his actual contract, you throw in the bonus number then, he makes 900K, still not over a million but over the 660K so it's once again 105% of the contract needs to be offered which is $945,000 dollar QO. Sorry, but no matter what you slice it, 1.5 for a QO is not right, learn the CBA better next time.

As I said in the GDT, the call on Rivet was horseshit. The Bruins player was holding onto Rivet's stick like it was the last fucking raft on the Titanic.
