didn't you mention, one time, that you like desaparecidos? conor is the vocalist/plays guitar in that band.

i like one song by them. had NO idea the two were linked. i thought it was a dude from the postal service or something.

if so, in that song, he sounds NOTHING like jesse lacey. but i listened to a song a few minutes ago, and thats what hit me first.

yeah. i love bright eyes, and have since i was pretty young, but i just can't respect any artist who has no issue completely disregarding his fans and completely ignoring them like that. he really is a self important douche. and yet i'm still listening to fevers and mirrors right now.

He's good and he knows it. I'm really shocked he wouldn't stop for a minute and at least say hi. I've heard Patrick Kaleta is the same way, though. He just ignores fans every time he leaves HSBC Arena. I'm pretty sure I remember Phil(?) saying that someone once yelled at him to remember where he came from. They wouldn't be anywhere without their fans although I'm sure it can get annoying. Doesn't mean that he couldn't at least acknowledge people.

you know, i get exactly what you mean. i was lucky enough to discover "armor for sleep" right as they came out. i saw their first show in fact, in 2002. anyways, ben was super shy and he didnt stick around. next time i saw them in 03, no one really knew who they were, but i know their album. i requested a song, and ben said theyd play it, IF i sung. so i sung it. hung out with him, nice guy. i hung out with him after 2 more shows in 05 and 09, nice guy, but sadly he never remembered me. but it was nice to see that he wasnt completely full of him self.

also, one time i was threatened to be sued by the band CKY. that was fun.

What makes him an asshole? I was out of town so I couldn't go. Lewiston is really nice, though. :)

My grandmother's house is on the street you walk down to get into Art Park. Plus all the bartenders in that area went to highschool with me...haha

My friend is in a band with the owner(s?) of the Brickyard. I'm sure that's who you're referring to, right?

hahahaha...yup. Who's your friend?

Jeremy Franklin. I also did the bookkeeping for them, too, when I had an internship. I've met Ken once I think, but I don't think I'd remember what he looks like or anything. It was just a brief hello.

SO glad you asked. bear with me, this story is gonna take a while.

the time frame of this story is from late 2004 to early 2006

as many of you know, i loved CKY, the videos and the band. CKY had a website called the CKY alliance. message boards and all. the community was extensive and once you are in, you are in. never a dull moment. so after many years (3) i grew out of CKY, and they kicked out the bassist, vern (who knew me on a personal level, after meeting him and shaking his hand, my wrist pops (because i broke it years ago) and ever since he called me pussy wrists) but i never left the forums. i voiced my displeasure at the bands new direction, which made me the anti-christ. but i wasnt the only one. i was banned for my opinion, but brought back by members who wanted me back and protested my expulsion. we also would hijack threads with either pictures of hockey or salamanders. ANYWAYS. one member, a girl, hooked up with every member of the band, before marrying the new bassist, matt deis, from all that remains. she took criticism of the band extremely personal, and he would come flying on the boards, telling us off. he was the live bassist, nothing more. there was also an overbearing mod who would flip shit if you made fun of the band.

following along? good.

so, after a series of hi-jacks and the bassist telling me off, a member made a picture of a girl pegging a guy (thats using a strap on in his ass) and photoshopped her face on the girl, matts face on the guy, and the overbearing mod standing in the background looking stern with his arms crossed. THEN the member made a fake myspace page pretending to be matt deis and making fun of him. i had nothing to do with this, i didnt use myspace at this point. i wasnt 12. but i did know who made the page.

a week after its made, i got banned from the boards, saying i made the picture, i made the myspace. i didnt. a week later, i got an AIM from matt deis (it was legit, they posted their names and invited fans to talk to them, if they were on) saying i was responsible, ect. i maintained my innocence, but he then said he was going to sue me for deformation of character, stealing someones identity (HAHHAA) slander. i called bullshit, said it wasnt me, and he said he would get me, and would ask his lawyer to get in contact with me. being a shit, i gave him my phone number, saying i await his call. sure enough, his lawyer called, or someone pretending to be his lawyer. at this point i got spooked, and the kid who made the page went to matt deis and told him i had nothing to do with it. matt AIMed me again anyways, trying to tell me i was responsible, but quickly backpedaled when i informed him i had the emails from the other guy claiming responsibility. he then got super nice super fast, asking if i wanted CDs and t-shirts, and backstage to the next show. so i told him off, telling him no, CKY sucks, and hes nothing more then a bitch for their live shows and not a real member of the band.

and thats the end. haha.

edit: even though i had no part in it, i was never allowed back on the forums to post and i actually went back recently to read what they had to say about ryan dunns passing. and there are STILL members who have "bring back JATM" (that was my name on there) sigs. not many, but a few.

Every time I've been at a practice at HSBC, Kaleta has always stopped.

I wish the media had the sensitivity to ignore untimely/horrific deaths, leaving families left behind alone. Acquaintance (enough of one to be a Facebook friend, anyway) recently lost his mother and two of his ten siblings in a car accident (not a drunk driver; his brother was driving for the first time and over-corrected into a ditch) and along with having to give up coming back here to school because he has to help support his family now plus losing his mother, and the rest of the children having to deal with losing one of their parents, the one who homeschooled all of them, the media won't leave the family alone because the circumstances are so tragic. They did the same thing on my campus when a freshman died in a freak accident last fall. It's rather despicable behavior. They have enough on their plates as it is...

Oh, and they still get the facts wrong despite the harassment. Blech.

Some of the members of Karma Police may be a bit older than I am, plus they formed about 6 years after I left NY. I know my cousins are friends with Jeremy and some of the guys are older brothers of friends of mine. I don't know a ken though.

Ahh, didn't know they had two bands. I went to school with Zak. The other band Karma Police is a Radio Head cover band and they started around 2005. Same people for the most part.

Kaleta bought me a beer and a shot at a Fridays so he has successfully bought my love :)

Might be a douchemonkey though. I know his girlfriend of like a year and she tells me stories about him.

He exudes douchemonkey-ness, IMO.

That's pretty cool, though.

I'm going to be playing hockey for the first time in over a year this weekend. squeee i cant wait! it's almost spiritual to me, it's been unbearable not being physically able to play. But I made the most of my time, I dropped 47 pounds this year (technically 8 months) and I am about as pain free as I'm gonna get. It's just ball hockey, but after a few weekends of that, I'm hitting the ice!

Going to UB by chance?

I think I did that while watching a movie one night. And the Library Skills thingy took me about 10 minutes too. Online things like that are generally pointless.

Speaking of which, I hear that the NYS insurance reduction course can now be done online. I need to look into that...as I really don't want to sit for another 6 hour class (and probably won't, even though 10% off my insurance is worth it).

It's hard to believe that people don't graduate on time because they don't complete their library skills. If you can't do something so simple, perhaps you shouldn't be receiving a degree at all. :?
