That's not easy to do for any of these players, especially in close quarters at high speed. That goal is one that's routinely stopped by most goaltenders. I've seen Miller make that exact save before. Paddle should have been down.
a goalie coach would stroke out at that notion. no. you keep you stick down (not paddle down) and open up and go across. or, if hes within 3 feet, go for the poke check.
Not my goalie coach. My goalie coach knows when a player is in close quarters you track the puck with your paddle where you have much more strength and leverage on a forward who's trying to slam a puck through your 5 hole.
no offense, but your goalie coach should stop taking acid before teaching goaltenders poor technique.
you go paddle down for wrap arounds and bad angles. not for someone right in front of you, or maybe a scrum where theres 720 bodies in front of you. not there. you stay stick down and stay with the shooter. going paddle down is bad habit in that scenario. your 5 hole is open for a very short amount of time, where as if you go paddle down, you are committed on the blocker side.
