But if Sekera was worth a damn he woulda cut Peverly off from that move. Maybe Sekera was too weighed down by that fat new contract to help out on that one.

Just sayin'.

His pads were down but since he was sliding from one side to the other opened the five hole just enough for peverly to slip it in.

Which is why you need to keep your paddle down on the ice when you open your 5 hole. lol

leaves your blocker side completely open. not a wise move to do consistently.

but that wasn't the case. He should have protected his 5 hole better. I'll say that was the only "weak" goal by Miller.

It's a phrase that basically means, if you wanna see the Sabres at the top, turn the rankings.

eh, those goals happen alot. move across, wait for the goalie to open up as hes going across, boom! its in. happens all the time. shooters do that intentionally. paddle down is rarely employed anymore.

I'd say so. I have no idea how he earned that contract, he's done dick all.

True. Well, this is the team we have to deal with and only see Boston 5 more times.

No not consistently. But when the attacking player is within a foot of you with no room to go upstairs, it's probably a good idea to make sure you're protecting the 5 hole when you move across the crease.

It's not a big deal because that play didn't make or break the game, but that's a save Miller makes when he's on his game.

That's not easy to do for any of these players, especially in close quarters at high speed. That goal is one that's routinely stopped by most goaltenders. I've seen Miller make that exact save before. Paddle should have been down.

a goalie coach would stroke out at that notion. no. you keep you stick down (not paddle down) and open up and go across. or, if hes within 3 feet, go for the poke check.

Not my goalie coach. My goalie coach knows when a player is in close quarters you track the puck with your paddle where you have much more strength and leverage on a forward who's trying to slam a puck through your 5 hole.

Our defense needs a wake-up call. Gragniani needs to spend some time in the press box so he can watch how Weber clears the puck. Gragniani is quickly becomming a D-man that can score but is a huge liability in his own end. Also the D pairing need to be mixed up because what they have now is failing. The pairings should be Myers/Regher, Ehrhoff/Sekera, Leopold/Weber and Grags can watch and try to earn himself some playing time.

no offense, but your goalie coach should stop taking acid before teaching goaltenders poor technique.

you go paddle down for wrap arounds and bad angles. not for someone right in front of you, or maybe a scrum where theres 720 bodies in front of you. not there. you stay stick down and stay with the shooter. going paddle down is bad habit in that scenario. your 5 hole is open for a very short amount of time, where as if you go paddle down, you are committed on the blocker side.
