Ugh. I've had a brain stabbing headache for like, the past 2 days now. Medicine doesn't help and it refuses to go away. Blah. :(

Thanks, I hope so too. I get these headaches every once in a while and they're just the worst. It literally feels like there's little men in my head stabbing me in the brain with pickaxes. Only way to make it go away is to let it run it's course.

Pretty much. I mean, I'm not sure if it's a full blown one, because I'm not really sensitive to noise or sound or anything. I just have a stabbing pain on the left side of my head that just won't go away.

Those can be hell, I get them. Sleeping seems to be the only way to deal with them.

Yeah, sleeping is pretty much my only reprieve. I sleep and everything's fine... but then I wake up in the morning and everything goes to shit again. I'm hoping it'll be gone by tomorrow.

so i went to grand rapids and on friday night i got so drunk, we got kicked out of 4 bars. i dont remember any of it. saturday night, the amerks played the griffins. we didnt go, but we went to a bar right by the arena. at about 1230, some big dude comes up to me, and says "i like your shirt." referring to my miller tshirt. i say thanks and he walks away. i recognize him, but i think.. nah. he comes back up to me a little later and asks how big a sabres fan i am? i reply a huge fan. and he goes "do you know who i am?" and i go.. well, i think you play for the amerks. and he leans in and goes "im zack kassian." and shakes my hand. and i go "bullshit!" and he takes out his tooth and says how about now? and i immediately go into a "holy shit, you are my favourite prospect! i loved watching you play for the sabres for 15 games this year!" and hes all.. yeah. its great. and i go "dude, i hate to ask, but can i get a picture with you?" and he steps back and goes "no. no. no pictures man." and i put up hands and say "im sorry, my bad." and i shook his hand and said "i wish you the best of luck, and im looking forward to seeing you up with the sabres soon." and he said thanks and i walked off. it was cool meeting him, i wish i had handled it better, but hes got an ego.

Cool story Mike! Yeah, at 20, I can see why he deferred. Well a couple reasons, actually.

Does he look 6'3" 230?

no actually. part of what threw me off was he didnt look 6-3. he looked like kassian (and the pulled out tooth nailed it) but he looked like was 6-1 maybe 6-2. i guess at that point, it didnt matter much.

he DID look like a bruising human being though. like a tank.

and i absolutely can understand why he deferred. i wasnt upset at him, but i wish i could have had that picture. im a BIG kassian fan. but he does have an ego. cant say i blame him. pretty sure some other sabres prospects were there too, but none of them came up to me like kass did, so i cant be sure.

He only weighs 214. I mean, that's nothing to laugh at but people think he weighs as much as Chara or something.

Next time go outside to get the picture. Awesome story though. Big guy is one of my favorites right now as well.

Spring break just got awesome. Staying in a 5-bedroom house on Myrtle Beach in SC for a week. It's owned by a friend's uncle, and we're only paying the cleaning fee of $150 for a group currently of five and will likely be closer to 8-10 by the time we actually go. It will be even cheaper than going to my parents' house near Albany for break would be, as overall between that, gas, and food this way I will be paying about $100 as it currently stands, more likely closer to $80, and round-trip train tickets are about $150.

Friends that are a married couple can't afford to go, and I would just pay for them but then they would be losing a week of pay for her, and that I couldn't part with because I need to save what I can to relocate after school or else I'll be sunk. :( For them going on such an inexpensive vacation would mean homelessness. He is currently unemployed and has been applying to various jobs for months now, and he needed 30 hours more of work to qualify for unemployment insurance so he doesn't even get that. After they depleted their savings buying food they were able to get food stamps, but they honestly have nothing with no chance of improvement any time soon and I wish I could do more to help them. The situation angers and saddens me, and it's created the ability in me to rage whenever I hear someone openly advocating the cessation of things such as food stamps. My friends would starve. Other friends who graduated in May don't have employment yet despite best efforts (that unemployed friend graduated in May with an IT degree as did another friend, and still nothing) and argh I don't want to be graduating this year. when everyone's in the same boat it's kind of difficult to do anything about it, to help each other out.

I'm really sorry to hear of the financial troubles your friends are going through. Money has always been tight for me and my mom, but we've managed to stay afloat somehow. I know how hard it can be to not afford groceries one week (or three in a row). It really puts things in perspective. I hope things look up for them.

Patagonia. 100%.

I'm partial to Marmot...Patagonia is nice but always overpriced IMO. North Face can be priced well, but you'll pay a premium for their serious gear.
