'Killer' probably wasn't the right word there. My bad.
There's been a lot of good phones that have come out, but nothing good enough to get me to drop my iPhone. My biggest issues:
1. Form factor. Some of these screens are too damn big for me. I don't consume media on my phone in a way that makes a massive screen important. In almost all cases, if I want to watch something, I use my tablet tethered off my phone's internet connection. I don't need a 4.5" screen that's also a brick in my pocket.
2. Operation. Even some of my most militant Android fanboy friends (and I say that with love, not as an insult) are constantly bitching about something with Android. Almost none of them are running stock, all using Cyanogen or something, and they're always futzing with it trying to get it to behave the way they want. It's nice to have the flexibility to tweak, but not when you can never get it to work.
I look at phones and watch as my contracts come up, but I just can't see a reason to switch yet.
my phone is stock, and maybe because i simply dont know HOW to dig deeper, i dont see a reason to root it, but i have hardly any problems with the phone itself. its starting to slow down a touch, but ive had it 15 months now. its not brand new anymore, so this is to be expected. remember when i got my X? seems like yesterday, but here i am, looking at new phones already.
with me, screen size is a big deal. i think i just like holding something big in my hand (cue jokes about pensi (and yes, i meant penSI)) because it doesnt feel cheap to me. not saying the iphone does. it actually feels solid as a rock. but i think thats why i like bigger phones. feels solid.
