Female. I need to lose a boatload of weight. Last trip to the doctor a couple weeks ago, i weighed in at one pound less than i did when I was in labor at the hospital with my son 9 years ago. And there ain't no baby in there today! I wish I lived near a YMCA. I love water aerobics, but we live in an extremely rural world and those things are at least a half hour away.
So, I'm down almost ten pounds since a couple weeks ago. The Doctor wants me down 15 by march 15th...but I'm upping that to 25. i want to lose as much weight as I can before the dreaded plateau hits. I hate plateaus.
Dodging Plateaus is very easy to be honest. You can't do the same things every day, every week, every month even. Change it up. It doesn't have to be a drastic change, but change it up.
Walking is good, but is one of the number one causes of plateaus, simply because what you do in the beginning, becomes easy, and your body adjusts too it.
My suggestion is this,
Walk for a week, then find another exercise, such as bike, or stairs (stairs are the best work out you can get, by far and away). Then cycle through them in 7-10 day intervals. After about 6 weeks, then alternate between an easy and a hard exercise, like Cardio one day, stretching, or yoga the next.
Allow your body to HEAL as well. Working out is simply hell on you at first, and remains that way. Drink tons of water, green tea, so on and so forth. They say you need 8 glasses of water per day, I actually drink about 3 gallons of water a day. Keeps the toxins out and boosts your metabolism exponentially.
My guess is, that over the past 9 years, especially having kids, you've pretty well introduced a lot of toxins into your body, most of which come from the foods we all eat. Anything that is overly processed, like fast food, pre-made meals (ie tv dinner), preserved foods, and so on, builds up toxins in our bodies.
My guess is, that is a lot of the extra weight that you carry, are toxins, that have built up over time. The best way to combat these is with 2 very simple and inexpensive supplements. The first is a probiotic.

The second supplement is digestive enzymes, this will help your body digest foods, getting the most out of what you put into your body, and push the bad stuff out.

I know I'm not exactly a cover model for GQ or anything, but I have dropped nearly 70 pounds off my frame since last May. And have been researching weight loss and different techniques over the past 6-9 months. These few tips are the most consistent and practical means of dropping pounds, increasing metabolic rate, and also helping your body not only look good, but FEEL good as well.
Another small tip is, keep in mind that weight is just a number. It's about feeling good, and not starving yourself, but rather making changes that will help you become healthy, and by that, you'll become thinner naturally.
Hope this helps a bit.
