Applications in all sorts of environments. Thinking about two HP DL380 G6s with a 16tb SAN, one 24 port managed switch, one 24 port baseline, and two UPS' (probably somethin along the lines of APC2200s).
We'll be running ~20 VMs; the Dual Quad/6 core processors should be able to handle it on one server; we're buying two for redundancy. Eventually we'll figure out a better backup solution, right now it's looking like RAID-1 in both servers and probably also RAID-1 in the SAN.
We've thrown around the idea of backing up to our corporate datacenter, but it defeats the purpose of keeping the test environment in an airgap network, so we may have to back up to a NAS. Doesn't much matter if the whole building burns down, but if we put it someplace "safe", at least maybe only one copy of the data will be lost. We won't have "mission-critical" info, so if all were to be lost, it wouldn't destroy us, but we'd lose months of work.
Actually, typing that sentence, no backup solution for the amount of data we're trying to store is fucking ridiculous. I'm pushing for a better backup now. Thanks for the help Squanto
