Cape Vincent traffic problems: The occasional suicidal squirrel, Billy Gould stopping in the middle of the road with the garbage truck to talk to a friend that is hogging the other side of the road and cows that break the fence, stand in the road and say, "Well, this sucks".

Congrats on the CC, it is real sleek design. The 2.0T is a great engine, I have heard bad things about the 3.6 engine. I went with a friend to test drive one, and loved the car's design inside and out.

Yeah...that's the same 2.0T in the current A4 correct?
I've had the 2.8 and the 3.2 from Audi/VW and both were solid...the 2.8 especially.

There are a few minor differences, but essentially they are the same engines. The 2.0T in the A4 produces 11 more hp and 51 lb.-ft. more of torque.

I had the old 2.8-liter VR6 12V in my old Jetta. The engine itself was reliable, but everything else around it wasn't. It had a great exhaust note to it.

So you're not in NC anymore?

I've hated a manual only in bad traffic backups, but since I hardly am ever in rush hour Raleigh traffic, or around here I'm glad.

It's probably the same motor, just has a different tune to it since the Audi is probably considered the more Luxurious car, but who knows.

Audi/VW/Porsche are all owned by the same people.

I never knew that.

I always thought all three were independent, however I knew that VW and Porsche shared developments on the Tourag and the Cayenne (spelling?).

That would make sense now.

Kind of surprising. VW sits in a very peculiar niche, in my opinion. They're priced above economy but just below luxury in their entry trim levels.

To me, they seem to be a very very high quality automaker.

VW owns Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti, Seat, Škoda, and owns a 19.9% stake in Suzuki.

Yea, when you open the hood of my car you have the VW logo, and the Audi circles.

Just recently VW bought Porches within the last year or so.

Yeah, I've got the Chiltons manual for the A4 I had and the manual covers both the A4 and Passat...that's how close they are.
The audi is trimmed more nicely, it has a bit better suspension, of course, Quattro where the VW does not. And I believe the 2.8 30V I had wasn't available in the Passat either.

Yea, Audi is the more luxurious of the brands, VW is more affordable.

But both have their own respective cars, it's like any partnership.ownership thing.

just like how Mazda and Ford collaborated since ford used to own Mazda. And Dodge and Mitsubishi shared designs and such.

I wish I came to this thread earlier...

I'm in love with my Saab 9-3 aero xwd. Its got a 2.8l turbocharged engine that puts out about 290 hp, over 300 in torque, and goes 0-60 in mid 5's. The haldex awd system is flawless, absolutely no understeer or dive.

The best part about it, was that i bought it in the midst of the Saab Gm separation, and ended up getting a fantastic deal because of their uncertainty. The lefties over in Sweden are too socialist to let their car manufacturing industry sink so they're practically paying for them to be bought be konigsseig (sp) and maybe in the future to spyker -- badass supercar manufacturers, so my warranty will be safe.

Image

I realize saabs aren't the posterchild "sports sedan" car, but this thing is a beemer/audi killer. Nav, faster engine (than a4 and 330i or the c350) shitload of amenities and cheaper too. Give it a thought.

Oh, I didn't know the Saab 9-3 was AWD, I would have recommended them also, I just love the looks of them now too. 9-3 turbo is a sexy car.

the turbo x and the aero xwd are essentially the same car. Saab tried their best to make turbo x a more exclusive car by manufacturing fewer of them and cutting if off in 08, but their are VERY few differences. The turbo x does not have a torque limiter on it, whereas the aero does -- easily fixable though if you really need it. (you don't)

this is to try and kill the premium '4 door coupe' niche a la merc cls , and i'm sure it's taken some cues from your new ride.

I need a car...mine got trashed in the flooding here in August :(

Unfortunately, I have shit for savings and only will have about $2,000 to work with, so my crappy credit will combine with my crappy job to only give me the luxury of getting a used car about ten years old or so :|

You can find a good car for 2k. I just bought my '96 Saab 9000 CSE Turbo for $2200, and absolutely love it. Just keep an eye out on craigslist and something will pop up. It took me a while and a few times looking at cars to find the one I bought.
