With the trade deadline now done, its hard to take, but Regier has written this season off. As he does every season.
Firing Darcy Regier would be a god send to this team.

Yea, we have no chance of beating any team, especially with Miller in net.. Might as well not watch the rest of the year..

Hate to burst your happy bubble, but Miller isn't carrying this team to a Cup, Hasek couldn't do it either, so Miller shouldn't feel bad.

I still ask.... is it Darcy? or is it Quinn? I still blame Quinn... I think Quinn handcuffs Darcy... Darcy used to make moves... remember around the Doug Gilmore years... he had a few really fun trade deadlines back then... but since Quinn has been around Darcy hasn't been as fun around trade time...

Like Darcy has said about a million times, he doesn't build the team at the trade deadline, he doesn't like rental players he has to give up anything special for. I think he'll get fired or leave with Ruff, whenever that might be. But considering how we are doing lately, I doubt he will be leaving. :snooty:

So why do you say he is writing this season off for, because we didn't get FUCKING OVECHKIN, CROSBY, MALKIN, KOVALCHUK, HEATLEY, THORTON, and MARLEAU?

Have you seen our recent stretch record? This isn't the first portion of the season, once again, hate to say it, I really do, but Miller even said it, they got away with poor play the first half of the season, those days are over. I think your in for a shock this stretch run.

There was a chance here, you have to give to get, not every move works out, I agree, and there is risk, but the way Darcy has done this, I'm not impressed as a fan, from the Drury/Briere fiasco to way back when Hasek needed help up front and none came to him, because of management. Its the same old story for 12 seasons now. Sorry, but this is the truth. Darcy had a good chance with D/B he blew it.

So before this turns into a shit throwing fest... Who's going to replace Mac and Goose in the lineup today?

Good question, Darcy is the man infront of the camera, he catches the fan unhappy face.

Balls, I was hoping for a prospect for a day. Thanks though.

I thought I saw him in the bucket infront of the house this morning, couldn't get HBO to work. Was that his son as the flag guy on the street? They were both wearing orange :D

he is throwing the towel in on this season...he stated it before the deadline that this is not the year they are going to be taking a run at the cup....he said that year will be next year.....do i agree ? no

i think he could have been way more agressive and given this team a shot at the cup this year.....

at this point, i would say we are going to be lucky to make the playoffs....

Darcy hasn't been fun around trade time EVER. He hasn't changed since Quinn's been back.

Besides, how can you say Quinn 'handcuffs' Darcy? Money wise? Doesn't work. After today's moves, the team will finish with at least a $55.8M final payroll, only $1.8M under the cap.

The money is there to be spent. It just has to be spent better.

Yup. We spent a lot of money to have mediocrity. This would be ok if we didn't have hockey Jesus in net. It's a sin to be wasting Miller while Pominville, Vanek, Hecht, Lydman, etc(not ETC) all are making good money. A true sin.

As for D and B, it wasn't Darcy's policy that prevented in-season contract negotiations. That was Golisano and/or Quinn, and it was that policy that prevented those players (and Vanek) from getting locked up sooner. Darcy had nothing to do with it.

As for this season vs next season, you have to be pretty impatient or obtuse to not realize how next season will be shaping up better than this one. 9.5 million worth of cap hit, from fairly unimportant UFAs, will be shed. There will be both physical room on the roster for Ennis, Weber and Enroth, and cap room for one or two impact FAs. We should see at least four solid upgrades across the roster. Don't hit me with the "I'm tired of waiting for 'next year'." The last few summers have seen Darcy in tough spots with not much to look forward to, but this summer is going to be a very good one. You guys have to look at nhlnumbers.com and be able to see it. It's a good picture, and a better off-season position than Darcy has had since 2005.

Since 05-06 the cap situation has just sucked. The team in 05-06 would never have been retained anyways, and then in 06-07 being at the cap ceiling. Then losing Briere and Drury made the team go down to having to rebuild for a bit at least.
