Two games is reasonable.

Remember a few years back when Briere was suspended a game because he was 'reckless with his stick'? Well, Ovie is pretty reckless with his body. Hopefully he can find a way to continue to play his style of game without these reckless and dangerous hits on others.

I will believe when I see it, he will never learn.

I agree with this. Ovechkin was like this in Russia and will always be this way. He made statements after his last two game suspension that he WILL NOT change and might get "more angry" after the suspension.

I like to see Chara hurt him after his suspension.

Dirty player + Repeating Offender = at least 5 games

He stated that he won't change his "style" so now its up to the tough guys to make him do so. Go get him!

Throwin' elbows is dirty. People say Gordie Howe was one of the best ever because of his fire, talent, and drive, but no one says he was classy. Why? Cuz everyone knew he was dirty as hell cuz he "just fuckin loved throwin elbows around".

Throwin elbows in today's game is dirty. Back then it was nothing. The dirty stuff back then was the nasty ass stick work.

You have a bit of a point - that gnarly stick work was just raw! But still, was there an elbowing penalty back in the '50's? Cuz if so, that would certainly make it dirty.

I'm sure there was a rule back then but I dont think the refs felt like calling a penalty every 10 seconds. they used it back then like they do in basketball. A small quick elbow to gain some space. Guys usually just took the elbow to the chops and kept skating for the puck. When they fell down actually hurt I'm sure a penalty was called.

Duly noted. Also, check your PM's in a sec.

It was different back then though. Minor elbows, you'd get called and serve the penalty. Come out with a cheap one, and you'd get worked on your next shift, and it would be over with.

Okay, can someone please tell me how a hit from behind isn't dirty?

I know for a fact in Canada the first thing you are taught about hitting is to never hit from behind. I'm sure the States are the same. What are they teaching about hitting in Russia.

this isnt a hit from behind, this was a push. yes, theres a difference. both players were skating towards towards the boards, and ovechkin pushed him. in probably 99 out of 100 plays just like this, campbell doesnt lose and edge, doesnt fall, and is largely insignificant.

its a dumb play, yeah. 2 games sounds good. but there wasnt any intent to injure, and thus, isnt dirty in my eyes.

Why oh why?

Someone has to show the "reckless" Russian this isn't the commuism KHL. If Campbell can't do it its up to others. Same with Cooke and Savard Pens better be prepared for war on thu.

I for one would switch to the KHL if hockey switches to figure skating

Hit Push same fkn shit man. Anything from behind is dirty. And where do people keep coming up with this skate hitting a rut. His back skate hits a rut as OV pushes him from behind into the boards at top speed from about 3 feet out. I don't know about you but when I play hockey my strength and balance in that situation would be mainly on my front foot.

I'm all for a real hockey player coming to his teammate's defense if Ovechkin plows him, but I don't want to see a thug or goon go mercenary on Ovechkin. That'll only exacerbate things.

did one of the mods delete my post. I might be wrong here and forgot to post it, and if so I apologize, but for future reference it'd be the responsible way to atleast to give me a rationale or PM about it.

Your post about if the NHL becomes figure skating? It's still there, man.

I will believe when I see it, he will never learn.

I agree with this. Ovechkin was like this in Russia and will always be this way. He made statements after his last two game suspension that he WILL NOT change and might get "more angry" after the suspension.

I like to see Chara hurt him after his suspension.

then you're just the ultimate dirt-bag.

There is little doubt in my mind that he had no intent to injure campbell on the play, and your wish for him to 'get hurt' is just embarrassing.

It's important for some of you to realize that hockey IS a dangerous sport. Thats not to say there should ever be intent to injure but it is definetly a profession with a high degree of risk involved. Thats why they get paid the big bucks.

True sorry I saw it wrong but even as I watch again his foot doesn't buckle until contact is made by OV to his back. At least thats how I see it.
