Someone on TSN said it best I think. Ovie isn't dirty, but he sure is reckless with his actions.

Two games is reasonable.

Remember a few years back when Briere was suspended a game because he was 'reckless with his stick'? Well, Ovie is pretty reckless with his body. Hopefully he can find a way to continue to play his style of game without these reckless and dangerous hits on others.

I will believe when I see it, he will never learn.

I agree with this. Ovechkin was like this in Russia and will always be this way. He made statements after his last two game suspension that he WILL NOT change and might get "more angry" after the suspension.

I like to see Chara hurt him after his suspension.

then you're just the ultimate dirt-bag.

There is little doubt in my mind that he had no intent to injure campbell on the play, and your wish for him to 'get hurt' is just embarrassing.

It's important for some of you to realize that hockey IS a dangerous sport. Thats not to say there should ever be intent to injure but it is definetly a profession with a high degree of risk involved. Thats why they get paid the big bucks.

How long that take you to come up with? At least you actually read one of posts for once from start to end.
So... no rebuttal? If you're going to try to criticize me for not reading your posts at least try recognizing some grammar rules or using some sort of legitimate argument to give me a reason to

I'll agree to that. I also think it could be due to Campbell maybe tensing up as be prepares for it.

Grammar? Since when the hell is this school? As you may have noticed irony never starts any of his sentences with capitals but it does not both me so who really gives a shit.

I bet if Cambell didn't tense up he'd probably be hurt even worse.

Ovechkin is just one of those players who skates around recklessly because he thinks he can do whatever he wants. Whenever he gets caught doing something that's even slightly dirty, he'll just play dumb and have that "Who, me?" look on his face. He's a fantastic player who is very exciting to watch which is great for the game, but you have to recognize that he can be a dirty player sometimes.

Maybe.

Probably not. Tensing up causes injuries more than being relaxed or prepared does. That's why, whether it's hockey or zombie slaying, you always remember to limber up

But in all seriousness, tensing up probably did him more harm than good.

You could be right but from past experiences I have limber up and have gotten hurt more than being tense, probably depends on the the person

None of the mods deleted anything.

I would however like to ask that we all tone down the back and forth just a bit. I understand that there are some differing opinions on this topic, but let's respect all sides here.

You do tend to leave letters out of your sentences, but I'm not convinced it's because you can't spell.

i think tom said it right. hes not out there to hurt people, hes out there to win at all costs. hes very similar to peter forsberg. just a hyper competitive being. sometimes, when you play that hard, your going to end up doing questionable things. at least he was suspended.

That is true, OV plays to win and I don't think he intentionally is trying to hurt someone when he is out there, or you would see him intentionally hurt someone.

His style of play might also leave him suspectable to severe injuries later in his career also, but other than suspensions, OV has only once been held out of play by injury once so far, even with his reckless style of play at times.

Ovechkin represents everything that is wrong with the NHL today. The NHL has always had a rich tradition of taking xare of its own business. Why has no one taken a run at Ovechkin yet? He's a piece of shit that is dirty...there's no reckless about it...he is just plain fucking dirty. Dirty is doing something with intent to injure and that us exactly what Ovechkin does repeatedly. Screw the 2 game suspensions--someone needs to run him and send a message that his actions will not be tolerated by the players.

THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED!!

How many players could actually hit Ovechkin?

Misses two checks literally 2 seconds apart. Ovechkin is a very agile player.

Regardless of agility, using a reckless, dangerous tactic on a reckless, dangerous player is the worst idea one can come up with in regards to rectifying a situation.

I agree also Phil. I would never want to see a player get run because he did something questionable.

Just suspend the player and hope he learns to not do it again, and if he keeps doing it, just make the suspension even longer every time.

I disagree and the argument may be lost on you depending on your age. If you can recall the days of the French Connection to Larry Playfair to Rob Ray, you know that NHL players used to take care of their own and this sort of play was not tolerated and it had nothing to do with the commissioner & suspensions. Did you know Playfair was drafted in the first round specifically as a tough-guy? Players stood up for each other and it didn't matter whether it was the least or most talented player in the league. Mike Babcock shows why this is allowed by the current NHL environment when he said "I think its just a case of a stronger player pushing a smaller player"--REALLY? This is a joke that is being overlooked because of the fact that he has great talent.

Back in the day it was all about respect and Ovi has earned ZERO respect in the league. If Ovechkin wants to be that type of player, he better be prepared to stand up for himself. Gilbert Perrault got in 1 fight in his career...He got called out as a rookie, he stood up for himself and broke the guy's nose...he never had to fight again.

Somewhere in the AHL is a big badass who is just chomping at the bit to get in the NHL. Bring him up and realease him on Ovi...problem solved.
