Yeah, for some reason both Pitt and NJ are playing like garbage lately. I don't pay as much attention to them obviously, so I don't know if it's an effort and discipline issue or just an honest loss. As I said above, I'm fine with a loss if they played they way they are suppossed to. We all know too well how Buffalo just doesn't show up mentally or physically sometimes. It's been an issue for three seasons and Miller sounds fed up with it. I know other teams have similar problems from time to time, but they don't win a Stanley Cup either.
I'm real happy with a playoff team and a series win or two. I don't obsess about a Stanley Cup the way some fans do, because I just won't ever expect that out of this organization. If however, that is an expectation from the team and staff, they should probably figure out why there are routine mental checkouts and solve that problem.
Here's a clip it of an interview after the Pittsburgh loss:
Quote:
"It was pretty bad. There's no sugarcoating it or trying to make something positive out of it, we didn't do anything that was positive," Crosby said. "We weren't ready to play. We thought we were going to play a team that laid down and isn't going to go to the playoffs, and we were just going to show up. Clearly, it didn't happen."
Here's one after a San Jose loss to Dallas:
Quote:
The Sharks fell into some of the same bad habits which plagued them during an 0-5-1 slump that preceded the four consecutive wins.
"We gave up 2-on-1s, 3-on-2s," San Jose defenseman Dan Boyle said. "Defensively we weren't on the same page. We were poor tonight."
Noticing anything similar?
You judge the Sabres harshly because you admittedly don't pay attention to the rest of the NHL.
There's no such thing as a team that brings it every night. It just can't happen.
Luckily for us, the Sabres are one of the teams that does it more often, and it's landing them a top 3 seed in the east.
