offered an extension, refused it, but wants to stay. That defy's logic.

Lindy in the front office, would make sense to that statement though.

Agreed on the bolded part, but in what position?

I would hope GM... otherwise i've got no clue.

That's my line of thought as well.

Sale agreement was completed at 1pm today.

Quote:
The Buffalo Sabres today announced that Tom Golisano has reached an agreement to sell the Buffalo Sabres and its related companies to Terry Pegula. The agreement, completed at 1 p.m. today, is subject to certain closing conditions including review and approval by the National Hockey League. It is expected the NHL review process will take several weeks to complete.

Tom Golisano and Larry Quinn will hold a press conference on Thursday at Noon in HSBC Arena. There will be no further comment until the press conference.

Terry Pegula will not be at Thursday’s press conference.

Why do people care so much that Regier was offered an extension last fall? It doesn't change anything...

I wrote about that earlier today. It means shit. If TPegs wants him gone, he'll be gone. Extension or no extension.

What scares me is that Lindy turned down an extension. :( Don't leave me, Lindy!!

But doesn't Regier get paid if he's fired while under contract?

I like this...BTG will get to bow out gracefully on Thursday at the presser and Pegula can take his spot in the owners box on Saturday...too bad the place will be full of Laughs fans.

Depends what's in the contract.

He'll get paid something. If there's no buyout clause, he could be told to just go home, and collect a check to not be the GM. If there is a buyout clause, here's a check, thanks for coming.

Even without a buyout clause they can come to a settlement to buy him out.

Seems like a tiny going away present, that I guess Ruff wasn't interested in.

That is correct, although he refused to elaborate on the reasons why, killing the conversation quickly. He also said that regardless of what happens he wants to stay here.

Correct.

The two parties have signed the contract to transfer ownership. Because of league rules, it must be approved before the transfer can occur.

as for Lindy... I think it depends... what if you have Darcy as team president... Lindy as GM and a new coach?... what if Lindy wants a multi year deal? Or maybe a one year deal to see how T Pegs is going to run the show... Maybe he just wants to sit down with Terry and find out what his vision for the team is... how committed he is and what resources Mr. P is going to put into the team before signing a new deal.... Maybe Lindy wants certain stipulations in a new deal like expanded scouting... or expanded budget for coaches or who knows... BUT i REALLY REALLY dont want Lindy to go any where! And hope they can work it all out!

I had to go back and re-read the report about Ruff from Bill Hoppe

Quote:
#Sabres Lindy Ruff said he turned down a contract extension in the fall. He says he still wants to stay, though. #Buffalo

He didn't turn down an offer recently...he turned one down in the fall.
With new ownership, one would assume it would reset that conversation.

Seriously, I think the world is about to come to an end. Not only is this great news for the Sabres, but that huge snowstorm coming is cancelling classes at UB tomorrow. UB NEVER CLOSES!

Thank you for your time.
