A source with knowledge of the dealings told THN.com the announcement of the Sabres sale is expected sometime in late December or early January. In fact, the source also said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is expected to introduce Pegula to the owners at the Dec. 6-7 board of governors meetings in Palm Beach, Fla.

Sounds like he's the source of the paranoia around here, the proverbial fly in the ointment.

How much of the team does he own?! You guys should trade him for Lemieux.

Well, real estate development can be extremely profitable, ask Donald Trump or Steve Wynn.

well, yes. of course it can be.

but that doesnt translate to being able to run a hockey team, IMO.

What are the percentages of the ownership of the Sabres? Does anyone know?

LQ was brought in by the Knox family back in the 1990s as team president. I don't know the circumstances of how that happened. He was fired in 1998 when the Rigas' took over.

He was out of the loop until Adelphia collapsed. He was then a consultant to the Golisano group when he came into buy the team. BTG paid him back by making him the managing partner and giving him a piece of ownership.

this may sound odd, but in some ways, i pine for the rigas days. then again, he said the right things, but never followed up on them. "i will being in the tools to finish the job"

it all sounds good on paper and from what i've read. Hopefully a new owner has been watching this team long enough to realize that quinn is trouble and is responsible for quinnerference. Though that guy is a weasel and keeps finding his way back. The one thing to credit the regis family with, they realized quinn is a problem. As well hopefully it is realized that regier can't make the right deal when it needs to happen (Moore, Torres). it is true people with too much money can buy teams. biggest example is dan snyder in washington.

one thing i would expect is that he will not move back into the area. Taxes alone are the reason i plan to move, and one of the biggest reasons golisano moved. but if his wife and he have family in the area no one is saying extended visits would not be plausible.

but most importantly we shall see what transpires.
(who knows this could be a huge media stunt paid for by quinn to get people to take focus off the dismal play).

I don't believe those numbers (the percentage of the team each guy ownes) has ever been released. I'm Sure Tommy ownes at least 50% still i don't think he would let his percentage go under that.. that way he always has the final say.

Yeah, I've never been able to nail down how much of the team BTG gave to those two. I'd expect that BTG still controls upwards of 80%.

I saw brief speculation once that he controls 90% and both Quinn and DiPofi control single-digit percentages, but I wouldn't be able to source it to save my life.
