Related: one thing about sitting behind the bench is you gain an appreciation for how stinky hockey players are. And how much Lindy swears.

It's not the players, it's their gear. Hockey gear stinks terribly, when used a lot.

My girlfriend tried to FeBreeze my shin pads once. She almost got punched in the mouth.

My brother got rid of his goalie equipment years ago but the sports closet will forever have that stench. Some guy brought in his son's equipment to be cleaned tonight at work and when I opened the bag and the smell was like BAM IN MY FACE.

Honestly, if you take the gear out of the bag and let it dry it doesn't stink, I normally take mine out everytime after a game, unless I'm feeling lazy or it's a late game, but mine doesn't stink that bad yet, but I'm sure it won't take too long before it really does smell badly.

Don't you earn more sponsorship dollars by growing your fan base... By winning?

I'd like to believe the teams that spend money up front for a long enough period of time end up building such a strong fan base that they eventually start to break even annually.

I had a buddy who wore a pair of Jofa gloves for years that were worn that much and had that bad of salt deposits in them that when they became moist about 10 minutes into the game, he'd stink/face palm the first guy who tried to become too familiar with our goalie. After the whistle went, he'd rub that shit in the face of the other guy and it would damn near blind him. Total dick bag move to pull, but very effective.

Not sure if it was the smell waffing you in the eyes or the salt itself, but man that shit fucking burns!

My gloves are awful. I remember I was fooling around with a girl before an inline game, and about thirty seconds into the game, the gloves had wiped the vagina smell clean off my fingers and replaced it with glove nastiness. Impressive, and awesome.
